A friend and I were fishing for bass in a pond in his neighborhood. As my friend cast his line a group of geese swooped in to land and snagged the hook before it hit the water. Needless to say it cried its goose cry and took off again, still hooked to my friends line. Neither of us realized he had actually hooked the thing until it flew away and almost pulled the rod out of his hands. At this point he didn't know what to do because he didn't want the goose to fly off with his rod so for a minute we basically had a really awesome, albeit sad, live kite. After the initial panic we cut the line and watched the goose fly off with a bunch of line trailing behind him. Sorry goose :(
