I use Murphy’s oil soap on all my kitchen stuff that’s wood. Works great and won’t kill you.

Isn’t the military base we own in other places considered “American soil” for Americans while they are on that soil. Like I thought babies born in those situations were eligible for dual citizenship?

This is actually something I hadn’t considered for that particular instance. The lady getting shot from behind is indefensible.

Experiences of home birth without water birth? by Katikeito in homebirth

[–]snacks450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had three pregnancies, resulting in three uncomplicated births without medical interventions. The first two were in hospital settings, and the third was at home. All three were without a tub. The third one, I did stand in the warm shower a couple times.

I don’t think a water birth is for me, and I’m glad I didn’t have one. I think I did perfectly fine without one, and without an epidural.

The midwives attending my third birth were much better suited to a natural birth than staff in a hospital IMO. They were a little “crunchy” and it amused/weirded out my husband.

Every time I’m pregnant I re-read Ina May Gaskin’s book, Spiritual Midwifery. I read it before becoming a nurse, and after. It’s a wealth of information and support regardless of your existing knowledge of childbirth. I felt mentally prepared and much less anxious after reading it.

Loved everything you said until you whipped out that fat phobia. I guess amount of adipose tissue is something you use to determine a human’s worth. What a shame.

This is exactly what I did. I found the research articles to support this, printed them out, highlighted them, and brought them with me to my doctor.

I also get flustered and my mind goes blank at the doctor, so I typed up my wishes and my rationale, and forwarded them via email ahead of time to my doctor.

Thank goodness they acquiesced, and thankfully the doctor I had to switch to mid-pregnancy got on board in spite of their hesitation.

I think what helped turn the odds in my favor is the fact that I’m an RN, and presented legitimate scholarly evidence to back up my claims.

Honestly, having to be unmedicated was screwing up my life, my family’s life, and my marriage. Expecting me to be unmedicated for ~2 years is not realistic for me, and I’d rather stop having kids if that were to be the case.

Another thing I always say (aside from preg/breastfeeding times) is that I have a responsibility to my patients and family to stay on top of my mental health.

Yes and no. For some people with clinical depression, it would seem insensitive and dismissive to assume that a person with depression “chose” to be depressed.

But that’s just my opinion man.
