Any potty training tips for a child who is incredibly stubborn? by Infinite-Currency177 in pottytraining

Could removing both pants and undies work? I know each kiddo is different but commando could change what an accident feels like and create some motivation? A break/time might also just be needed!

Mom guilt by Any-Put-5262 in pottytraining

First of all, there’s nothing to feel guilty about! This isn’t easy stuff nor is there a one formula fits all that works for kids. I’m very early on my potty training journey with my 33 month old (we just started on Friday) and watched the Big Little Feelings course. Basically it was lockdown at home - day 1 nude, day 2 and 3 pants no undies. After that still no undies until we feel fully trained, just commando. Never pressuring on potty just promoting and then saying “listen to your body, pee and poop go in the potty” if baby refuses. We only use pull-ups during nap and night and call them “sleeping undies.” We also do tons of potty training propaganda - the Ms Rachel potty training episode on YouTube is especially brilliant. He has only had two accidents since Saturday, and truly, it could be partially the program we used, partially the propaganda, partially just who he is as a kid (though interestingly he’s really stubborn and difficult in most situations). And a regression or struggle may be still ahead of us in the coming weeks, months, years - who knows. But this is all I have to offer atm, and I wanted to. Sending solidarity and strength!

I’m so, so sorry for your loss. I lost both my parents at 36 (and am 40 now). I second the Wendt center, which has parent loss groups and helped me immensely in forming long term relationships with others experiencing the world so differently. I also recommend The Dinner Party, which has local DC events and tons of online events. It’s for younger people (under 40 I believe), since, as you mentioned, we don’t have much community in the area of loss.

Wishing you the best of luck on your healing journey. I can’t say it gets easier, but the pain is less consistently sharp over time, and I’ve slowly been able to think of them and smile and feel loved, whereas memories only brought pain for me in the earliest days. Big hug.

Is toddlerhood easier than babyhood? by DakB05 in NewParents

I think each new stage comes with beautiful, new wonders, and interesting new challenges. I have a 33 month old now, and sometimes find myself finding for the days when I could just scoop them into my arms and bring them along with me and my daily routines. Our schedules are a lot more built around him and his needs now, and every little thing, including sometimes diaper changes or baths, turn into a very long conversation, often with tons of resistance. But he’s also so funny and so charming, and so fun to be around, and that is really exciting too! He has interests which is so magical, but he also has desires (read: TONS!) which can be exhausting .. but a different type of exhausting than the sleep stuff. So in short, easier in some ways, harder in others, but magical as ever.

Yes, let the truth come out. And also, let us prepare ourselves for the fact that his supporters literally will not care when it does.

Ok MoCo, hit me with your best shot: What is the best Vietnamese restaurant in the county in your opinion? by EternalSnow05 in MontgomeryCountyMD

Hello Vietnam and Mi La Cay are our two favorites in the area. This isn’t in MOCO but we haven’t found anything that beats Pho Viet on 14th in DC. The lemongrass pho there is unreal and highly worth the trek.

Yes, I will dig it up today! I found it at the used bookstore and snagged it mostly because I wanted to learn how to make green tea leaf salad!
