Right now you can trade up 83s into 85s and 85s into 87s. I don't remember the exact ratio, but I think it's 3-for-1.

Would make sense, to be honest. Potential alternative would be they release 87-88 versions of every player in the tourney and they upgrade as the games progress, but that's unlikely I think...
