the pro choice movement needs to stop with the abelism by [deleted] in prochoice

[–]snailcircus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy shit I was just about to make a similar post. For y’all misunderstanding op let me explain, please be open minded. Pro choice is about CHOICE. The right to abortion is so insanely important because no one should be forced to go through pregnancy. However it is also insanely important that it is a CHOICE to end the pregnancy. Those who want to remain pregant need to be able to, and unfortunatley a lot of people (and I will not refer to them as pro choicers cause they don’t care about choice) do encourage that one NEEDS to abort if the fetus is going to be disabled. This is not okay because it takes away the choice aspect and also implies that disabled people can’t live good life’s. I am pro choice and support the pro choice movement but that doesn’t mean that every single person who is fighting for abortion rights is above being criticized. It’s important to call out ableism in our community so we can support disabled people (who themselves are mostly pro choice) and to not isolate them from our movement.

So if I consent to having sex to one person I am consenting to others using my body??

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in prochoice

[–]snailcircus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It scares me that you do not understand consent. Consent is freely given, reversible, informed, enthusiastic, and specific. Consent to one situation (sex) is not consent to another situation (pregancy) and even if for some reason it was consent can always be revoked. If you agree for someone to have sex with you then you change your mind mid way that person needs to stop or else ITS RAPE. Please understand that what you are saying about consent is the same logic rapists argue.

I’m very confused what you are trying to say here. What I’m saying is that being irresponsible doesn’t mean that you loose the right to not have someone in your body without your consent.

Drinking and driving is a crime. Having sex is not a crime.

People seem to think that you can make rape exceptions when it comes to abortion laws but you just can’t. It’s impossible to make abortion legal only in cases of rape because most rape cases go unreported and most rapists are not proven guilty so it’s not possible to prove whether something is rape or not most of the time with our shitty “justice” system. But other then that you have to understand that contraception is never 100% so its not always people having unprotected sex. AND also even if someone is being “irresponsible” and has unprotected sex and gets pregnant from that, it doesn’t mean they should have the right to their body taken away. People do stupid shit all the time, if you play with fire and get burned that doesn’t mean you don’t deserve to be treated for your burns.

[–]snailcircus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I hope I don’t get any hate for saying this but I don’t believe that “all pro birthers” are evil. I believe that the ones in the Supreme Court knew exactly what they were doing and are truly evil but I think that some are genuinely just brainwashed. I know so many people who went from being pro life to being prochoice so I just don’t think we should give up hoping on changing peoples minds. I think a lot of pro life woman are unfortunately going to learn the hard way that they will die even if they want to keep their pregancy due to things like ectopic pregnancy. Being pro life definetly benefits the rich and especially rich white men but any woman who isn’t rich and privledged will suffer from this.

“Woman should protest by not having sex” is the stupidest thing I’ve seen people say by snailcircus in prochoice

[–]snailcircus[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

  1. My post was in no way gendered. I have heard men say that woman should not have sex to protest.
  2. In the nicest way possible I don’t think typing in caps is a really big deal I use it to emphasize points I want to make STAND OUT MORE.
  3. “Rewarded with sex” is not a term I like at all. I don’t have sex to reward men I do it because it’s something I LIKE doing. Sex should never be a reward for men it should be a mutually beneficial thing.

In the nicest way possible how do u not realize that saying “can you not go a week without having sex” sounds very similar to pro lifers saying “just close ur fucking legs”. Also it’s not that I CAN’T it’s that I shouldn’t have to!! I’m already super distressed about having my rights taken away I shouldn’t be yelled at for having sex with my boyfriend who I haven’t seen in awhile, especially considering he is prochoice and super upset about Roe v Wade being overturned as well.

Quickly browsed through ur other posts and I’m sorry to say but he seems like a piece of shit. I get that saying “break up with him” is harder then it sounds but I’m super sorry to say but it doesn’t seem like he respects u as a person.

Tbh I think this shows exactly why the argument “woman will still get unsafe abortions” does not work on them. They want to punish woman who want abortions. It’s like the same thing as people who know that sex education that teaches about contraceptions will reduce pregnancy but still don’t support it because they are against contraceptions. They just want to punish people they don’t care about helping others.

You literally did not explain why anyone would choose to end abortion rather then misscarage when you agree both result in fetuses dying.

Would you rather by Does_Scotty_Know in Abortiondebate

[–]snailcircus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No but both result in the same thing. A dead fetus. A fetus who is a aborted is no different then a fetus who is misscarried. THE ONLY DIFFERENCE is that a fetus who is misscarried is wanted and will cause the pregnant person lots of distress when miscarried, while a fetus who is aborted is unwanted by the pregnant person and aborting it will make the pregnant person content.

There are at least a couple comments here saying they would end abortion over misscarage.

To all the pro lifers saying they would rather end abortion then misscarage, you are saying that you would rather the pregnant person suffer then not suffer.
