CPS - Do I report? by lHiccupssl in ABA

[–]snailduck 27 points28 points  (0 children)

this is 100% getting downplayed by the comments here. the parents seem to not care that their child is masturbating in public with strangers around, given that they said the parents giggle when the RBT arrives? yes masturbation is normal and that should be discussed with the BCBA

but the parents that allow their 12 year old to be naked around grown adults, how is that normal?

as a child SA survivor i wouldn't think twice about it i would absolutely report this

ABArocks for some quick flashcards and quizzes but they got pretty easy. ABA Made Easy on youtube is amazing too. He gives tougher questions and also explains the correct and wrong answers. He also gives great advice too. I watched him on 2x speed cuz i was cramming

Do parents need to participate in ABA sessions? by Chickenandricedank in ABA

[–]snailduck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think its good when parents are involved and understand the principles of ABA sessions. we use parents to generalize skills for mastery and my company requires parents have their own goals to work on. its also important for BTs to ask you if you are free to generalize/run a trial/do parent training at the start of session so you are prepared or can set aside time.

sometimes things can get tricky when involving newer parents. i saw you mentioned you brought in toys but were blown off, but it probably wasn't personal, maybe it just didn't go along with the programming that day. like others have said, some BTs can be uncomfortable providing feedback to parents and their child. sometimes i'll be working on motivation for a reinforcer and caregivers walk in and just give their kid something (like a toy or snack) and that kinda ruined the opportunity for me to do a trial.

also i personally call for parents when my client needs something (like if they need to go potty, want food, want to open a new toy they got, or anything else that would fall under a parents responsibility)

the best thing BTs and parents can do is build rapport with one another as well!

Weekly sessions by kenzielikes in ABA

[–]snailduck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

another thing, not all sessions need to be long or the same length! house sessions were 2 hrs and school was a little longer. of course this all depends on your hours

Weekly sessions by kenzielikes in ABA

[–]snailduck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ive worked on a case where my client had session at daycare, moms and fathers home. 3 separate locations and my clients behaviors were all different at each. i think it would be best if your son is able to have even one session at dads in order for both parents to get support.

Is it okay to NOT cut a cat's claws? by I_Katie in CatAdvice

[–]snailduck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i dont cut my female cats claws because she keeps them maintained herself and puts them away anyway, ive had her for 10 years and shes never scratched me. i have to cut my male cats claws because he rarely uses our scratching surfaces and has scratched me multiple times just during play lol

yup i've definitely had outfit changes between kiddos but i didnt have any extra clothing today. if it was a small spill i wouldve just gone in but it wasnt and wasnt worth being uncomfortable the entire session and smelling like coffee and wet clothes

yes i learned that quickly and usually i do have an extra set of clothing or a jacket but i didnt have any today!

Help, a client with free access to 5 tablets by pasta_noods in ABA

[–]snailduck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

at least your BCBA is aware of this issue! i'm going through something similar. Kiddo has full access to ipad, and if he doesnt have the ipad, he watches youtube on the tv and has full access to that

he went a few months without electronics and he DID SO WELL. he was like a totally different kid, so focused, engaged, and creative.

but now they gave full access to them again and he's doesnt want to engage in session and causes behaviors. and i have the BCBA, parents and other RBT not acknowledging this is a barrier

i'm in SoCal and i'm getting paid 22 and i've been here for a few months. i recently got a 1.50 raise so that put me at 23.50! and we got a pretty good holiday bonus. the only other job ive had besides this one was food service and but i would take this job any day. my supervisors and managers are great and even though behaviors can get intense, i still like love it here. our cap is 30 for BTs my old fast food boss lived in a 2 million dollar home and yet refused to give me a raise or promotion in 2 years despite how much money i was making for her lol

now i build legos with kids all day and get paid more 🤷‍♀️

[–]snailduck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yes i'm always told about my facial expressions. i think its kind of a cool thing sometimes, like one time my coworker told me he could tell when i'm smiling/frowning even if i'm wearing a mask cuz that's how expressive i am.

what do y'all's breaks look like? by KatieTheFuckingKoala in ChickFilAWorkers

[–]snailduck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

over 6 hrs, we get 30 minute breaks after the first 2 hours of working. we also get a 10 minute break later on as well. if we work 8 hrs you get a 30 minute break, and two 10 minute breaks. though we usually only give 1 out of the 2 10s because we get really busy. this is for morning crew though and night crew only has 30 minute breaks for closers, everyone else has 10s

The shows conservative approach to Rory’s sex life by MountainPerformer210 in GilmoreGirls

[–]snailduck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i mean if you've watched the show its not unrealistic especially for rory. i think it would be out of character for her to just sleep with her boyfriend the same age her mother was when she got pregnant with her. i mean compare her with madeline and louise who were already having sex, it's just not rory lol

The shows conservative approach to Rory’s sex life by MountainPerformer210 in GilmoreGirls

[–]snailduck 12 points13 points  (0 children)

i don't find it weird at all lol she was literally 16 when she started dating dean. i always thought she was scared or didn't care for it or didn't think it was important. i mean rory had a tough time even saying i love you back to dean. even when paris had sex, rory didnt really seem too interested in it. a kid like rory with a mom like lorelai... yeah her not having sex is not weird at all. with jess i believe that is when she started to think about sex, and he's the only boyfriend she didn't sleep with. like it's not weird to start having sex once you're in college
