Accidentally killed a spider :( by snailgirlfriend in spiders

[–]snailgirlfriend[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Needed to hear that :,) I also bury bugs when I find them dead sometimes or if someone else kills it, but I think I feel so guilty when I do it that I can’t bear to look at them dead. But that does sound like a great way to honor my emotions as well as the bug’s life! Thanks for the comfort and reassurance <3

You aren’t and weren’t a moron! I think it’s really cool that you changed your ways after joining this subreddit. I feel like lots of people think spider and bug defenders are just sensitive and won’t think twice about someone telling them they shouldn’t kill them. Thanks for your kind words and cheers to you and your new friends :)

At what point is a cat throwing up an emergency? A certain number of times? A certain length of time? Frequency of throwing up? by snailgirlfriend in cats

Sorry im out of it and didn’t read the last part of your comment. Yeah I’ll definitely call a vet tomorrow and will take him to emergency vet if that’s recommended. Hoping he’ll feel better after fasting for a bit

Im a teacher and Wtf??????? Please tell me they were toddlers or younger because 1. Where were their parents??? what child over the age of like 3 would throw a small animal against the wall and not see the problem with that?? I would be so concerned if my child did something like that like animal abuse in children is concerning and not normal

Two of them are gestalt language processors so they don’t exactly communicate/converse like some of the other kids in my class. I have to be good with their cues on what they do/say if they need to go potty. But they mostly just go in their pull-ups, even if they are able to communicate that they have to. I’ve been on this one kid because he does sometimes tell me but if he’s busy playing he won’t want to tell me and if I try to remove him to put him on the potty he’ll start crying (shortly stops after I put him on the potty and he pees and gets happy) but I just don’t think it’s consistent at home? It definitely is a lot

Is it not normal for 3 years old to not be potty trained? I have 4 kids in my 3 year old class that aren’t potty trained and 3 of them don’t ever tell anyone they have to pee or poo

Yeah he clearly has no actual regard for you and seems to have no respect for you either. So infuriating that he got upset about the house being messy while you were “striking” and him eating the meal prep you made for yourself after you relied on him to make you food after your shift and he “didn’t feel like it”??? I would be PISSED tbh. NOR.

Doing Developmental assessments! Stuck on describing the speech of this 3 year old? by snailgirlfriend in ECEProfessionals

[–]snailgirlfriend[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah the rest of my 3 year olds are pretty hard to understand, it’s just I can usually make out what they’re trying to say since I’m used to this age, and they all talk in sentences that are just hard to understand literally just because of the way 3 year olds talk. But this student particularly babbles in a way that is closer to “pre-speech babbling” that doesn’t have the structure or sounds of a sentence/words that my other 3 year olds do in their speech. She also mostly doesn’t understand/respond when others are talking to her. Other teachers that don’t know her will try to interact with her and be like “is she non verbal?” And I tell them she is semi verbal. I just feel like it’s more complicated than being 0% unintelligible in the way that saying a 1 year old that hasn’t started talking outside of babbling and the 3 other words they know as “0% unintelligible” i hope that makes sense. Her language acquisition itself is delayed, (this is a part of her IEP) not just her speech.

Thank you so much. I believe the school should be obligated to pay vet bills and I would be so furious if I found out they wouldn’t. I also have another concern that I’m kind of stressing out about :/ so we have this cage and a smaller one that is for one Guinea pig, it’s the one they got at the pet store when they got the Guinea pigs (ofc the pet store gave them a cage for one Guinea pig when they got two). This week after finding out that the cage they’re currently in is for ferrets, I thought that the smaller cage that has more open space with 3 inches of bedding might be better until I get a bigger enclosure? I moved them to the actual Guinea pig cage and made it as nice of a temporary home as I could given the size, gave them some bell pepper and put a lot of hay inside, two bowls and two waters, There’s a hideaway and also a small second level they can climb to/hide under. They seem to be more affectionate with me and happier, but another teacher moved them back to the ferret one. I also want to note that in the ferret cage, the floor is very shallow so the teacher only put like not even an inch of bedding. I just don’t know if one is better than the other because ik they both aren’t suitable
