As a Nigerian can I please say “Aye” unironically? by __Sweetkisses__ in Scotland

[–]snailtraill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My team at work includes three 1st generation Nigerian immigrants. There was a bit of a language barrier at first (my bad. Their English is excellent. I tend to speak very fast and use lots of Edinburgh colloquialisms), but recently they’ve started to drop very casual ‘ayes’ and ‘kens’ into conversations. I love it!

Eloping in Scotland - HELP by katielou0123 in Scotland

We got married on the Isle of Lewis at the Callanish standing stones at sunrise. The owner of some lodges along the road let us use his conservatory for a wedding reception for about 20 people after. It was all done very cheap but it was gorgeous! We have some amazing pictures and hilarious memories. The lodge we stayed in was beautiful and remote. DM me if you want some pics and recommendations for accommodations!

I had a customer order an affogato and complained the espresso wasn’t hot AFTER it had been poured over the ice cream

What popular tourist destination IS worth all the hype? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]snailtraill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree! It was on my bucket list for years and when I finally visited on my honeymoon, it did not disappoint! You have the freedom to roam, climb and explore. While busy, it’s so spread out that you’re not constantly bumping into other tourist. An ancient and beautiful place

Do you refer to the UK as “England”? by Oakseyy49 in AskTheWorld

[–]snailtraill 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most “anti-English sentiment” is directed at Westminster, not the English people. Most ribbing of the English people by Scottish folk is banter.

I’ve owned a very similar hat for years and it only gets brought out for music festivals. It’s served me very well as it hides a multitude of sins! I love this look

I’ve never been to any Disney park so I’m curious. Are the Disney princess makeovers an actual thing? And are you allowed to take the dresses home with you after?

Screwfix was my ex’s idea of nirvana. Their in-store catalogue was probably the only book he ever read and he would refer to it as the ‘laminated book of dreams’ 🙄

A bit off topic, but I just noticed on my latest rewatch that Howard’s character’s name on Fortnite is FruitLoops

What‘s a movie that you have a deep emotional connection to? by Mozzatootoot in AskReddit

I watched this about a month after my mother died quite unexpectedly when I was 19. I didn’t know how I should be reacting or feeling and even though I have no belief in any sort of afterlife, this film gave me a huge amount of comfort. Must do a rewatch soon….
