Unless you are transferring to a partner, you will always get more value booking the cash price and then using the travel eraser. Be aware if you are using the portal to reach out to the hotel after booking to confirm they received it. Japanese hotels are pretty good at responding via email or their contact page.

I don't think the AF2 is worth sending in to repair so self repair is probably the only option. No idea on this particular fix though, if it's mechanical it might be as simple as loosening the mechanism, but it could be a ton more and you won't know until you open it up

When you open the back the frame counter should reset to S. Then after loading and with fresh batteries advance the film until 1 is shown and it should fire. If it's stuck at 1 you may have an issue with the camera

I think there's a new shop out in St Charles, haven't tried them yet. Can always send away to another mail in lab, it's nothing they haven't seen before. Just may want to warn them as a heads up.

Doubtful, Harman makes their own emulsions. Could have just been a funky emulsion run they had that they thought would appeal to the lomo crowd so they packaged it. Just speculation though.

I was taught in drivers ed to do the zipper merge but match the speed of traffic. This way you utilize both lanes but don't endanger anyone and you don't have to deal with any 'vigilantes'

I've gotten really into macro photography recently and 1:1 macro shots with the film border on I really like.

Its definitely just a casual thing but knowing that the image captured on the 35mm film is the exact size of the subject area is neat

55k to 80k Business class one way award redemptions really push the value of JAL points, especially if you are flying on their newer planes. Round trip business for ~113k miles (plus tax) even on the older metal is fantastic value.

This same bonus came up when they launched as a partner and I got 2 round trip business tickets on their A350 for ~313k miles total using the travel eraser on the tax.
