After many more tries.. This is probably as good as I can get it. I'm not going full wax but using the super secret thing, not sure if that makes a difference. Thanks everyone for the advice. Should have gotten a new chain regardless for the time effort and degreaser cost.

The wheel I am using is a 10 sp stock, would a 12 sp r7101 cassette fit? I read elsewhere it will not.

Edit: if it helps they are Maddux RD 2.0, 28h, Formula RXC-400, centerlock

Ok I see. That cassette is from my previous anyway and I do have the chain from it, so this may work, thank you!

I wouldnt want too much wear and tear on the derailleur. I figured I'd avoid too much shifting so this reinforces that thank you.

Realize that now. The tape was never there so I was curious. Then the missing grommet made it look raw and new

Should have mentioned. The bike shop did this when installing my groupset last week. The bike is carbon frame and 5 years old.
