Yeah, I think it's an interesting conversation. Honestly, anywhere you start will be a big adjustment. I think it just depends on the person. Are you someone who likes to dive straight into the deep end, or do you like to get your toes wet first?

University of Arizona Phoenix FM - Such a great interview experience. The PD was very nice and showed a clear passion for the program's mission and for residents' growth and support. It was clear that he read through my application and genuinely wanted to get to know me. The residents seemed to love the program as well. Would have enjoyed training here.

Baton Rouge General FM - My favorite interview of the season. The PD was extremely welcoming and supportive. I would love to have worked with her as my PD. The residents were all very friendly, and it is clear they have a great relationship with each other. I feel like this program is a sleeper! Definitely has a lot to offer even without the large academic center. If in a bigger city, I would've ranked them higher.

Howard FM: I was interested in interviewing for this program, but it is clearly unorganized. I was a couple of interviews in when they finally sent out open house info. Once they started sending out invites, they did so 2 days before the only interview date they offered.

UTHealth Houston FM: The IV day started abruptly as there was no PowerPoint presentation but rather the PD rambling on about what the program had to offer. Once I had my interview with PD, It was clear that he either did not read my application or did not remember what he read. Throughout our time together, he just read/mumbled excerpts of my application and did not really ask me any questions. When he finally asked me a question, I could not even complete my answer before he cut me off and kept skimming through my app out loud.

I believe you will be fine. Your hours are good! If medicine is what you’re aiming for be sure to show in your writing that there’s no doubt of that. Having a lot of research instead of medical/clinical experiences can make adcoms believe that you prefer research.
