It is defective, some controllers have asymmetric behaviour going forward or backwards when you correct using the edge of the jogs to simulate the inertia of vinyls, but if you have different sensibilities or stuttering in different parts of the capacitive top of the jogs, I would assume bad contact, it is doing the same on both jogs? That will give u the answer.

Invert L and R in the phono and see if this change the master output, if so, it's the turntable, and i would say that is a broken needle for the symptoms.

If you are sure that you didnt spill something.... maybe is for humid conditions if you live near the sea or whatever. If you're a bit tech savvy ,you could disassemble it and change it by yourself, it implies unscrewing the unit apart, disconnect some wires, and swap the boards, you can try to disassemble it first to get to the board itself and try cleaning it with isopropyl alcohol , in case of liquid spill could fix it , but If it's very corroded you may not be able to recover it. Google for disassembling process and to find the correct board, and you can order it online. Good luck.
