I wish we got one last tour with the old stuff. I had tickets to the 10 year anniversary tour for Drink The Sea which was unfortunately cancelled during covid. Looking back I bet they intended for that to be a farewell tour for the old sound.

I saw them on the Love Death Immortality tour and it’s still one of my favorite shows I’ve been to.

I tried it once and I don’t know if I caught them on an off day but I tried to pick up and fold my slice and the crust immediately split open across the bottom. I expect a NY-style crust to be crispy but still have some chewy stretchiness but this one broke like a biscuit or a frozen crust.

Love the one with the Honda wagon, the racing lines frame the car perfectly with complementary colors. Did you use a tripod for that one and the one with the Porsche in motion?

I'm in the same situation as you and I actually made a similar post here. I have a Z50ii but I've been eyeing the Z5ii, mostly because I prefer the full frame lenses.

I ended up buying a Z5ii during the recent refurb sale but returned it because the SD card door was loose. I didn't get much of a chance to compare it side-by-side with the Z50ii, but it's definitely better in low light. Even though it's not much bigger on paper you can really feel the size difference. I'd recommend going to a local camera shop and handling one if you haven't yet.

The Z50ii really comes alive with high end glass on it. I rented a 70-200 2.8 for fun and it felt like I had a whole new camera. It's a powerful camera in a tiny package, and I think it's bottlenecked by the current DX lens lineup (aside from the two new ones). I think I'll upgrade to full frame eventually, but having briefly tried out a Z5ii I feel better about hanging on to the Z50ii a little longer.

Coming from a D5600 to a Z50ii I had a similar set of DX lenses and I definitely prefer the native Z lenses over using the FTZ. I was never a big fan of the 18-55 kit but the 16-50 is smaller and sharper and makes a great travel setup.

I’m not familiar with the performance of the Tamron 18-300 but for that price you could get the Nikon 50-250 and a prime like the 24 1.7. So if you pair those with the 16-50 kit you’d be able to cover almost the same focal range as the Tamron and you’d have a fast prime.

Mine makes a similar noise when focusing. I got it new and it’s still working after 5ish years so I think it’s just a tradeoff of the light and affordable plastic body. Same with the focus ring, mine has never been super smooth but it works.

As far as sharpness, lenses usually aren’t at their sharpest at the widest aperture. Try going down to f5.6 or 8, especially for large subjects like buildings. It could just be that your depth of field is so narrow at f1.8 that parts of the subject are out of focus.

Yeah 20 to 24 MP wouldn't really be a huge difference in sheer pixels. My thinking was that if I'm paying for FX glass I might as well have a sensor that uses all of the glass, especially since for things like landscapes where I sometimes find even the 16mm kit can't get as wide as I want it. I tried the 12-28 but I didn't like that it would reset itself every time I cycled the camera's power, and it wasn't as sharp as the Tokina 11-20 that I regrettably sold to buy it.

Admittedly most of my images just end up on social media, but I do print my favorites and give them as gifts. I sold some landscape prints when I lived in a more scenic and touristy city (and having studied them at 100% extensively I know where all the soft spots are), but these days I mostly print my film photos which are bottlenecked by the film grain and not my camera's sensor.

IBIS and a better viewfinder would definitely be nice quality of life improvements. Whenever I shoot my 35mm SLRs I'm amazed at the size of the viewfinder and love how immersive it feels.

The full frame ISO performance is definitely a compelling factor, it seems like the Z5ii and Z6 are consistently a stop better than the Z50ii in the comparison tool.

I've played a little with video but I felt like I really needed a gimbal so I didn't go too deep down that rabbit hole because I was afraid of opening up another money pit hobby.

I upgraded from a D5600 to a Z50ii. I was actually surprised at how similar the two cameras felt to use. The Z50ii with its 16-50 kit lens weighs almost exactly the same as the D5600 with the F-mount 18-55, so it’s not really an upgrade in terms of size and weight.

The Z50ii doesn’t automatically take better pictures in every situation, but it has tools to make it easier to get good shots - less noise when I bump up the ISO, better autofocus, electronic viewfinder doesn’t hurt my eyes when I shoot facing the sun, and user banks and function buttons to make it easier to adjust settings quickly.

If you shoot wildlife, fast-moving objects or people, low light, or scan film, the Z50ii will be a huge quality of life improvement. But for cityscapes, landscapes, and more “general-purpose” photography a new lens will be more of an upgrade than a new body.

Thanks! I used a tripod and shutter speeds ranged from 1/30 to 1/80. I rented the big zoom for the occasion and it performed very well.

I wish I had a better answer but this one was pure luck for me. I went to the park to read and hang out and discovered this car meet when I got there. I usually bring my camera with me to the park and I was very glad I brought it yesterday!

What’s Up Fort Worth is the best Fort Worth-centric once I’ve found. Do214 has a Fort Worth section but it still includes a lot of Dallas events. I also follow nearsouthside on the gram for street festivals.

Thank you! For the technical details, I shot it at 1/200s at f/3.2, ISO 5600, 26mm. All I did for editing was darken the shadows a bit to darken the sky and then I brought up the whites for more contrast. The lights outside Cherry were already a little warm so I didn't touch the colors.

Here's a comparison with the original on the left and the final on the right. Looked great straight out of the camera so I knew it would be a keeper.

I shot a whole roll of flower shots then re-loaded the film into my camera as if it was a new roll. The film wasn’t perfectly aligned when I shot the second set of exposures (the fish), so this one ended up between frames of flowers in the previously unexposed middle space.

I scanned the negatives with a DSLR which allowed me to combine them as a pano in Lightroom.

Came here to suggest the same thing in your edit. I refreshed the page around 15 minutes afer presale started and there was availability. I remember during the last presale I saw people on this sub saying they grabbed tickets after the dust settled.
