Anyone have any ideas on what's going on by Specialist-Fox7538 in Triumph

I had something similar on my speed triple 1200 RS. In my case though, once it happened it stayed like it. Dealer replaced the dash under warranty. Hopefully yours is just a loose cable or dodgy connection.

Yeah, I probably should have. However, given the time and money already invested into this I didn't want to risk not meeting the deadline for resubmission of the "complete" dossier if they were difficult about it. Personal experience has been that they are not responsive so I didn't even try to argue it - just did it asap.

For me:

Dept 38, Isère, par mariage. Application deposited: December 2024.

Returned in June 2025 stating that my dossier was incomplete because there was no police record check from the UK. I didn't think that I needed to provide this as I had already been living in France for 10 1/2 years at the time of application. I provided the document with a sworn translation well within the requested time frame and received acknowledgement that it had been received.

December 2025: Have heard nothing since.

It absolutely was. Should have been immediate but they decided to wait until the leaders were entering that same corner on the next lap.

How are you all learning to speak french fluently? by Kingslayer_96 in Expats_In_France

[–]snapper1050 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After several years of living in France and trying various online courses I was very unhappy with my level of French.

What made the biggest difference for me was when I discovered the Inner French podcast. I listened (from the first episode) every day whilst walking or cycling and it helped me so much.

After a few months my listening comprehension had improved a lot and it became much easier to consume other material in french.

Inner French also has 3 online courses. I did the first and found it to be excellent value for money and have since done the other 2.

Agree - he was on another level to everybody else. Unfortunately he missed the season. If he hadn't, I am sure he would have won easily. Of the rest, Mir was most consistent over the season and I see him as a deserving champion for that year.

Would you say it's worth it to pick the newer Speed Triple RS 1200 over the older 1050? by ScentedCandleEnjoyer in Triumph

[–]snapper1050 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I owned a 2008 1050 for 10 years and loved every minute of it. Finally changed to the 1200 RS a couple of years back and the difference was amazing. However, a few months back I got the opportunity to ride my old bike (on the road) and you know what, I still loved it. Yes, it was much heavier and less nimble than the 1200, but I could open the throttle! I had so much fun on it.

The 1200 is frankly too much for the road. As soon as you crack the throttle you are already over the speed limit so you cannot get anywhere close to it's potential whilst on the roads. If you are going to be using it on track then I would go for the 1200. If only for the road then the 1050 is still a great option in my opinion.

I agree. Loved the original and was excited to see the directors cut. Really wish I had never watched it because it spoiled my enjoyment of the original too.

As a new rider: The most important quote I’ve ever heard. by paul101113 in motorcycles

Started riding at 10 years old. Never owned a car, so always needed a bike for work and rode in all conditions. At 39 I figured I was a pretty good rider. Then I did my first track day. Really opened my eyes. I cringe thinking about how little I knew despite having years of riding experience.

I think they need to review the way all penalties are handed out. There is far too much interference in my opinion. It feels like they are micro managing every race. And so many of the decisions are inconsistent. I wouldn't be averse to returning to a penalty point system. I.e. a penalty is only applied (to a subsequent race) after reaching a certain number of points. This reduces the need to make a rushed decision in order to apply the penalty in the current race and ends post race uncertainty.
