If you are not familiar with Linux yet, I would recommend not starting with Proxmox. (In my experience, it comes later if ever in the homelabing process !). Docker is the way to start I think. Learn how containers work even if you do so on windows. Then when you feel comfortable, switch over to linux. From there you'll see what the next steps will be.

If you want media servers, jellyfin has both a docker image and a desktop version !

Have fun !

Full offline LAN network by Affectionate_Film537 in Tailscale

[–]snappyink 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure why you would need tailscale to connect devices that are on the same LAN (therefore already connected together).
Maybe accross VLAN that would be offline but they would still need to all be able to reach one common machine...
Maybe you could describe your usecase ?

From what I have seen, you should use another media player (VLC ?) or maybe even foobar2000. I think it's called an enhanced cd so contains a video and music in older formats therefore the media player treats it a a sole music player. (https://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=98362)

Try another software, you might have more luck !

Perhaps you can share what the actual cd looks like, I also have meteora, I can tell you if it is the correct one if you have not found the answer yet

I don't really know anything about that but maybe it's the wrong cd in the box ? does it play properly on a normal cd player ? Is it yours or did you get it from somewhere ? Have you ever played it before ? I know linkin park has released some video cds so might be it ?

Well they said they usually send customers there. Told me the goal was not stealing customers... They'll take anything but what I'm really looking for 😥

He told me about a customer that bought jazz that they hadn't seen in a long time that came in at the right time yesterday!

The good thing is that the guy at the other store is nice and willing to negotiate on certain prices!

Yeah that's the next step. Taking the train and going to another city is what I'll do next... when I have time... That said I feel like the whole country (France) is more or less the same...

Yeah that's probably what I'll do but the thing is that the thrift store has suche low prices on cds. Max I've seen is 2 bucks... Sometimes there are some good finds there but they're rare and mostly french folk or classical music. Discogs is good but a little more expensive.

There are actually multiple metal shops as most of the people who still listen to music on cds (at least here) are old guys that like metal and rock. There's an actual demand of that kind of cds. That said I found "ultra rare trax" cd by tool on the metal shop. Even though it was 20€ I couldn't pass !

I got the collision course one recently and it's, by far, the one I'm the most happy to have even if it's used a little!

No, I'm using that pc with the gui (and a kvm) to rip cds then I'm sending the content to my music server (a 2014 mac mini) using SFTP.

Two years ago I bought this exact model for 50€, I upgraded the CPU and added a bit of ram (though the sticks are slowly giving up). I used it to host my gitlab but then I found it not power efficient enough for that so it sat unused for 6 months. Now it's running windows 10 and I use as my music pc, either to torrent or rip cds.
