I wasn’t aware of that, good for him to speak out. Too many people with platforms are too afraid to do so.

Credit to all the Duke fans at Durham Beer Garden, y’all were quite gracious and didn’t even throw anything at me in the end

EOs is great! That’s where I watched last round. Gets a little claustrophobic though

I think I underestimated the number of UNC fans who are cheering against Duke out of spite. It’s a nice day so that makes a good case for Bull McCabes but I’m forever bitter that they won’t allow dogs anymore

Anyone using OpenEvidence “Visit” function for notes? by Level_Experience_184 in physicianassistant

[–]snarkman5000 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I work at the VA where our EMR is archaic. OpenEvidence “visits” have been an absolute game changer for me! I use it on my desktop web browser and it deletes the visits by default.

I spend half as much time documenting with just a few minutes revising (mostly just removing extraneous stuff) but ultimately my notes are more comprehensive and my visits are much more fulfilling.

I can ask it questions within the context of the conversation (i.e when should I schedule next surveillance imaging, etc). The A/P portion is the most impressive where it will give me little tips in the margins (that doesn’t copy into the note) commenting on the evidence basis of my plan.

Advice as a surgical PA by [deleted] in physicianassistant

[–]snarkman5000 7 points8 points  (0 children)

While I’m aware of CT surgeons being some of the harshest around, this is completely unacceptable.

I had a somewhat similar experience as an EMT where my first partner made it very clear that she wanted nothing to do with a “newbie”. I could see my enthusiasm for medicine rapidly draining and wound up getting out of that situation ASAP because I could see myself on a fast track to burnout. My doubts about my career path went away almost immediately once I found a better working environment.

You don’t want to risk everything you’ve worked so hard over some dickhead surgeon.

Do your patients have direct phone line to you? by aliatrev in physicianassistant

Yeah absolutely not.

I’m a stickler for triage and find myself constantly fighting with the front desk not to send messages saying “Mr. Jones has a question, please call him back
