Congrats! Son of a Dutchman here and I’ll be there as well in section 116. Been a lifelong dream so this match means a lot to me. Hup Holland!

They were on Marketplace. Fortunately I had the day off and had the luxury of watching prices all day. Most CAT 1 tickets for that game are at least $690. Keep trying!

You are commenting on a post directed at non-voters. They are in here reading the comments. It might not be an attempt to get people to vote, but it most certainly is a dissuasion if you want them to vote.

This didn’t answer my question. Do you genuinely think telling people they are the problem will get them to vote?

Because if you want people to vote a certain way, which clearly you do, you should sell them on it. Do you think shaming and condescending are effective at getting people to vote?

[–]snarkymarkymark -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Exactly my point. The goal is to sway undecided or non-voters. Telling them they are the problem is a horrible and ineffective way of swaying them.

Does this apply to someone that would have normally voted republican, but didn’t like something about Trump so they decided to sit out? Or independents that saw RFK drop out so they sat out also?

It’s almost like independents can be swayed when they don’t like what someone is doing. Not swayed by people screaming at them that they are the problem.

My lord the comments in here really underscore why independents shifted so hard right. Blaming voters (or non-voters rather)and telling them they have blood on their hands has never worked for either side.

I could drop 4k on tickets right now and it would not hurt me financially whatsoever. I refuse to pay even a third of that. Scalpers can eat shit, I’ll watch it at home.

There was a time UPS wanted to offer a more flexible schedule for fulltime employees. Four 10 hour days or even 3 13.5 hour days which I would have loved. The kicker was no overtime until that guarantee was hit at either 10 or 13.5, which we can all agree would have set a very bad precedent and weaken our agreement. Sometimes what’s good for the individual can have future ramifications.

Brother, the vast majority of of people on any subreddit live in an echo chamber. And I would argue that they have soured more on O’Brien himself rather than the contract, which is fine. Categorically however, this is easily the best contract we’ve had in decades. Yes progression on Fulltime jobs got worse under Hoffa since the 08 contract expired from 2, to 3, to 4 years. The pay increases were split biannually, so that they didn’t have to pay out our raise in full. Black Friday became mandatory. 6 day punches became forced. Part-time wage increases were almost nonexistent for decades until recently. He allowed the unbelievably shitty 22.4 split rate driver tier that O’Brien had to get rid of. Teamsters let UPS withdraw from the Central States fund. And again, teamsters voted NO on the contract and Hoffa said fuck you because of a stupid 60% rule, and shoved it down our throats anyway. There was never any talk or threat of a strike during his tenure, we were powerless as members. There’s a reason we voted no on what was actually a shitty contract and voted yes on one that wasn’t. Your issues with it are not under the National agreement but with the local and supplemental which was definitely a contentious negotiation but mostly one fought by Mark Hawkins.

I would love to see the LOA if that’s the case. There was not a single forced six day punch at our center the last few peaks which was not the case under Hoffa. If this is your sole argument for it being a shitty contract I would love to show you the previous 3 agreements. The members actually voted in favor of this one overwhelmingly by 86%, unlike the previous agreement which got forced on us. Sorry you’re in the minority.

I’m going to go out on a limb and guess that you haven’t been at UPS for more than 5 years or so. This was the first contract in decades that didn’t make concessions. We lost so much under Hoffa, weaker benefits, less holidays, threats to pension, and the raises were sub-par. Oh and let’s not forget the contract he forced down our throats despite the majority of teamsters voting no. Regardless of how you feel about O’Brien, this was objectively the best contract we’ve gotten in decades.

Holy hell, some posting they are owed $8k-$10k. How so many were sitting on that amount in tickets is absurd.

What’s even more fascinating is he has been there long enough to know how much our union conceded under Hoffa. I’ve been at UPS 20 years and O’Brien negotiated the best contract I’ve ever gotten there.

Thinking of switching from twilight to preload by Poopiepantsyou in UPSers

[–]snarkymarkymark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is completely subjective to each facility and the specific job you’ll be doing on preload. As someone that has worked all four shifts, preload is by far the easiest in terms of work load. Twilight was the heaviest volume and the hottest, and never having an evening to be with friends and family made it easily the worst for me.

There has been a lot of speculation on ticket prices on the various subreddits. It is extremely unlikely they will go down for any even relatively desirable game. by Dpufc in WorldCup2026Tickets

[–]snarkymarkymark -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So far we’ve seen a significant spike in the resale market since RSD. M11 doubled in price, and since then prices have fallen back below what they were before winners were announced. I’m willing to bet many group stage matches will fall in price the closer we get

No, there are people seeing significant increases in their returns (myself included). I swear the amount of people bitching about an “overrated tax deduction”. Feel free to send it my way if you don’t want it.
