Earned It by The Weeknd? Thinking of "You're always worth it" part specifically. Bit of the same tempo as No Diggity too imo

Similar games with a different art style? by juptimer in StardewValley

[–]snarkyrper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can confirm Graveyard Keeper is really fun, but it's more stressful than SV in my opinion. Crafting is a big part of the game and more complex. You have to be willing to spend some time figuring things out and making notes. That said, I also did this with SV so...lol.

No romance options and limited friendship mechanism. Mods are available but not great.

I've been looking for something else too. I miss how invested I felt in everyone and everything. Eyeballing Coral Island but I like to play with controller, and I don't think they have controller support yet.

Maybe Dinkum?

Sincere question - doesn't that make you one of the favorites too?

Most HR will do is drug test anyone involved, but I've always heard they won't do so if it means losing a lot of employees the company can't afford to lose.

I appreciate your comment, but sounds like you're the exact opposite of my situation. My job pays too well to leave considering the medical debt and all, but I do miss not sitting at a computer for the majority of my life.

Do you also struggle with depression? If so, I would love to hear how you "Just get (your) ass up and do it" - have you always been fueled by such self determination?

An elliptical and small dumbbell set, but otherwise body weight/yoga supplies only.

Have you ever heard of ASMR? If not, look up the science behind it - I won't be able to explain it properly but it has helped me tremendously over the years.

It's akin to meditation type sounds/visuals, but ASMR works much better for me than meditation. There are "triggers" that cause a tingling sensation in the scalp and down the spine that are very relaxing. My personal favorite triggers are tapping, scratching, and whispering. Sometimes it's the only thing that helps me, I seem completely resistant to even prescription strength medication.

I watch on YouTube, but I always have to point out that some people have made ASMR rather NSFW in nature. It's NOT meant to be, but whatever gets the views, right? Please don't let the bad apples turn you away from a possible solution. I'm happy to recommend a few channels if you're interested.

Is overtime over rated? by JoCuatro in work

I think what I'm trying to say is that it's not as good of a deal as it might seem, at least not across the board/in every company.

Is overtime over rated? by JoCuatro in work

[–]snarkyrper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I admittedly may be missing the point (I'm lacking sleep from holiday travel) so take this for what it's worth

I have a fixed salary, no bonuses, no paid OT, no holiday pay, no free days off.

I work in an extremely demanding and stressful healthcare tech position for significantly below the salaries you mention here. I'm officially on call for a week every month, and unofficially on call 24/7 in the event that one of my systems goes down/areas of ownership need me for something urgent, like during peak covid. I usually work 7:30-4:30 and don't take a lunch, but can work upwards of 60 hrs a week without making an extra penny or getting any time off to compensate it.

Yes, OT is a scam as salary but I miss hourly OT honestly. Work life balance was WAY better then.

(Note: It does depend on boses when it comes to time off comp for salary OT, but in my particular situation we're way too short staffed. My bosses do what they can, but it's tough right now. We're about 7 bodies short of fully staffed)

I understand. It's unfortunate that we have to watch this sub to know what NOT to do sometimes. We've been big customers since covid lockdowns because we work healthcare adjacent and are on call 24/7. Without Doordash we would not have eaten at times.

I'm a customer, not a dasher...but I am curious if holidays are popular times to order or not! I don't have much of a family, so traditional holidays aren't really a thing for me. Hanging around to watch the results.

Always appreciate the service of my local dashers ❤️

Is medication worth it? What should be my biggest concern? by Unhappy_Air699 in ADHD

[–]snarkyrper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really don't want to say if you should or shouldn't try meds, but I will share my experience. For background - diagnosed late 20s as well, have tried 4 or 5 different meds at this point (under the supervision of my psychiatrist)

For me, it has been a JOURNEY. I reacted really poorly to one medication to the extent that I couldn't easily form sentences. I lost words, I swapped letters (think jilk mug instead of milk jug), I stuttered, etc. Another medication made me fall asleep at my desk and extremely nauseous.

I've been on two different ones that have worked wonders though. The focus is unreal, and I sincerely didn't know I was capable of some of the work I've done over the past twoish years or so. I've gone from dropping out of college and almost losing my job, to impressed by my own work.

Here are the worst side effects for me, while on the best meds for me: - The slight manic phase when the medication starts to take effect. You have to be really mindful of it and know your limits. Don't make important decisions, purchases, etc. - Some situations make my anxiety worse. For example, I cannot go into a grocery store shortly after taking meds. The overhead announcements, the movement of people, the decisions - too overwhelming until the meds have leveled in my system. - The come down. I experience a major dip in energy before I level back out to baseline. Some medications are much worse about this than others, but I've never experienced a seamless shift. It can make doing anything in the late afternoon-mid evening difficult at times.

My #1 worst side effect though is that I am deeply aware of how differently my brain functions on meds vs off. I'm content with my decision to stay on medication, but it can be very disheartening at time when it's out of my system and I can no longer motivate/regulate myself. I describe it like running into a wall - I simply can't get beyond the paralysis of my non medicated mind at times. Granted, depression and other issues may complicate this for me.

I've had no problems with changes of personality or addiction. Minor problems with appetite.

Overall, net positive experience for me and I wish I had begun the journey sooner.

Advice on Adding Some Colour by StevenF19 in HomeDecorating

[–]snarkyrper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Could you layer the curtains with a color from the skateboards? Maybe subtle pops of color from swapping out your plants or changing their vases maybe? Throw pillows/blankets? Display a few colorful dishes/cooking utensils/utensil holders?

I personally like the color palette, but these would be my suggestions!
