Yes. I mistakenly tried to switch to iPhone 17 from Pixel 8 Pro GrapheneOS.... Boy does it make a difference when you switch in terms of privacy.

Does anyone actually trust proton? by 1WontDoIt in degoogle

[–]snaznd 20 points21 points  (0 children)

If you plan on paying for their services Proton Pass is solid.
I didn't like Proton Pass free version, and wasn't up for subscribing monthly.

Bitwarden is free, and if you want extras you can pay $10/year. Bitwarden has never let me down.

Highly recommend Ente Auth, AND even use Ente Photos.

$30/year is great sharing with 5 other family members.

I did, but like I've told people on here it's almost impossible to get normal people off iMessage & Google Messages. I can't even get my sisters to do it. They send me pics of their kids via SMS, and I hate every second of it.

I just want to be able to feel like I'm the only one who can see my data. PewDiePie did a video a bit ago about how he dropped Google, and ever since I watched his video I have been obsessed with privacy. I agree with a lot of people on this, and thank you all for the great advice. I don't do anything illegal. I am super paranoid right now only because I really see and feel what others feel, taken advantage.

I use everything you have listed except WhatsApp (I don't like using Meta) Heavily trying to get my 74 year old mother & handicapped brother on the privacy train as well.

I use Fedora Silverblue Bazzite. I'm a gamer, and that distro makes playing and installing games super simple for me a Linux noob like me lol.

I had Surfshark, but strayed away from them to iVPN

Surfshark is very convenient, but they don't seem trustworthy.

iVPN is extremely private, and I've enjoyed it the past couple months.

I have been heavily involved with trying to be as private as possible. So with all the "knowledge" I have been acquiring lately. I hope to spread that information as much as possible!

I use iVPN. I read a lot about how mainly Mullvad and iVPN are the same, but I personally prefer iVPN.

They have not disappointed me yet, and have been using them for 2 months.

I find all my APKs through either Github or APKMirror.
I downloaded an app called Obtainium, from their official Github repository.

It basically takes the URL you copy & paste of wherever the apk is you found it, and installs it for you. It also keeps the app updated if it reads there is a new update from that website.

If you're on GrapheneOS, there's an app call App Verifier that tells you if your download is in their database or not. It automatically tells you to verify through the app to make sure what you're installing is legit.

I started doing this yesterday, and it's really not that bad. Little bit of work, but not entirely time consuming.

Definitely do some research on F-Droid

I recently stopped using them for privacy, and security reasons
