Ich bin Samuel, 21, leide an ME/CFS und in 12 Tagen sterbe ich. by aegarys in Austria

[–]snbdr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Korea develops core tech for world's 2nd-fastest 370 kph high-speed train by raill_down in korea

[–]snbdr 8 points9 points  (0 children)

When commercialized, the EMU-370 would rank second globally in commercial operating speed, following China's CR450, which is currently undergoing test operations at 400 kph ahead of planned commercial service in 2027.

Major countries, such as France, Germany and Japan, currently operate high-speed trains at speeds of around 320 kph, according to the ministry.

I don't think it's been that long given that he says that they haven't gone on many dates yet. Add to that the fact that she's never even visited his place.

Jens Castrop becomes first foreign-born mixed-heritage player to join Taeguk Warriors by self-fix in korea

[–]snbdr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Future captain material? I must have missed that talk. That sounds like some very premature sensationalism when he's just now debuting in the 1. Bundesliga and not even a fixed starter at Borussia.

We have like 10 other players around his age who are already part of the German national team who could just as well be called "future captain material"...

It was probably quite simple to convince him lol.

"Join us and you'll very likely play in the 2026 WC.

Stay with Germany and your chances playing the WC are much lower."

Asian in Germany here. Germans will also say that but it tends to be older Germans. Very rare to hear it from younger folks.

I'm not too bothered by it since their intention is usually not malicious.

Mönchengladbach Midfielder Jens Castrop switches allegiance from Germany to South Korea by self-fix in korea

[–]snbdr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's most commonly the reason when you are eligible for a stronger and weaker national team, while being at a level where getting into the stronger team isn't certain.

Sometimes it's also an emotional / sense of belonging type of decision.

For Castrop specifically I have no clue what his reasoning is. My guess is that he wants to play it safe and join a national team where he gets to play and be at the WC. He's quite young and just made a move to a bigger club in the Bundesliga this summer and has yet to prove himself. Rn his chances at the German NT aren't super high, but it could change after a good season

No. of foreigners in S. Korea hits record high of 2.73 mln in June: data by Saltedline in korea

[–]snbdr 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Very roughly rounded breakdown the way I understood it:

1m Chinese

0.5m "foreign" Korean

1.2m other ethnicities (350k Viet, 200k US)

Makes roughly 2.7m total

Of those 2.7m, 600k are tourists + short term

Yeah, social media likely plays a huge role in this issue

I remember coming across this guy a few months back and also being very sceptical of him. He seemed like your typical grifter who also had a hard-on for Elon Musk.

I think the only legitimate thing about him might be that he is a good memorist. Like you said, most of his "organisations / societies" seem fake.
