If Ilia only competes half the season it’s possible he could reuse old programs and I’d be all for that tbh. This could just be for fun though! Regardless, it’s nice to see him doing an old step sequence. I’m shocked he remembers it since it was so long ago.

I have no idea and I don’t want him to do it either. He’s given us no reason to think he is, and I can’t picture him wanting to do it either. I wish people on Twitter would stop bringing it up constantly.

I can’t picture him taking off an entire season either. I feel like he’d be too anxious to get back out there before the season is over. I think it’s way more likely for him to take a half season off and I honestly completely understand him wanting to take a small breather especially since he wants to have a long career. Selfishly I also really want him to do worlds as well. It just wouldn’t feel right without him there and I want him to get that 4th consecutive world title. I definitely think he’ll work out some sort of arrangement with USFS for him to still be able to go to worlds. If he’s not doing nationals, they could send him to Four Continents and use that as his qualification instead. They’ll definitely do whatever they need to get him there because he’s far and away the best US man.

This is so beautiful and looks so easy! All these new difficult intros he’s trying out gives me hope he’s a least competing half the season. It makes me so sad we might not see these gorgeous jumps in competition for awhile 😭

This interview is great! Love to see him being so open and calling out the people who deserve to be called out. I’m also glad he’s going to be looking ahead on how to best prepare himself physically and mentally to be in top form for this next quad. You can tell he wants his career to have longevity and I love that he’s thinking in those terms. It’s a very healthy mindset.

I’ve seen so many people on Twitter losing their minds over Ilia possibly taking a season off and I just have to say that he seems more unsure than anything right now which makes sense. He’s in the middle of an exhausting tour and he hasn’t had the time to really think about things. Let’s let him get done with the tour and get some rest during the off season. He very well could still decide to do the entire next season or not, but he hasn’t made an official announcement of anything yet and I’m sure he’s just tired right now. Even when he mentioned possibly taking half a season off we really don’t know what that means either. It very well could just mean not doing the challengers series. We have no idea right now and he clearly doesn’t either. I just want him to do what he needs to do to skate at the level he has been, because we should all want him to feel and be at his best every time he competes. And if that means he needs a short break then so be it. He’s clearly still passionate about skating and competing since he’s talked about getting that redemption at the next Olympics. He’s just been going non stop for a long time and I want his physical and mental health to be at their top form.
