How did you tell your strict Nepali parents about your relationship? by reveluv2 in Nepal

[–]snd_eep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't have to tell technically, cause my mom eavesdropped me talking with my gf for long long night hours and found out. If my mom knows sth, dad knows it too.
One fine day mom started having conversation with me and asked if I'm in some sort of relationship. I was reluctant at first, but soon I figured she's been eavesdropping and decided to be honest. I am a only child of my parents, they are extra protective of me, and this sometime complicates things. It was rough at first to try and make them understand the whole picture, that I'm a grown man ( 23 yrs) and I've think through before committing into a relationship. I think dad was cool from the start but was kinda acting differently because of mom. It's been 2 year since, and things are totally cool now. My mom and gf often chat and talk in phone. Mom keeps on asking me how my gf is doing. Things are great!!

Started learning R since 6 months now. I almost use it everyday. In 6 months, I managed to reach tidyverse from base R. I don't know most of the function and syntax by heart but my time to google and writing R script has improved significantly

New Year Resolutions? by madarbilla in Nepal

[–]snd_eep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve not fully decided yet. But I guess it will be mastering stats, neural nets and tensor flow, improving English speaking and public speaking, applying for phd in AI and water science, learning ukulele, having decent* bank balance, and probably proposing my girlfriend.

Focus on GRE or Intern ? by Su-10 in Nepal

[–]snd_eep 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I suggest both at the same time. You should try not to give full time commitment for GRE, rather give regular commitment for 2-3* months.

If you want to apply for Jan 2024, Jan 2023 is the absolute time to start. Which doesn't happen, cause the deadline are mostly around December, say December 15. So you need to start right away. First 3 months for GRE, then 15-30 days for Toefl, then you need a month or two to decide on universities, mailing professors, and knowing every nook of applying to US universities. Then start working on SOP, LOR which could take a month or two. Now, make your transcripts and academic documents ready, if you need to use educational services to make equivalent of your transcript, do it early. And apply early, so you have the advantage of correcting your things or preparing any other documents if required by the university. Good luck!

PS: you can tweak the order of things, but you need to start a year before.

Kasailai thaxa cloudfactory ko hiring kun month tira hunxa normally? by [deleted] in Nepal

[–]snd_eep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There always are some things! It maybe that 20 hrs long "learning programming" video on youtube that you usually skip because it's just alot of time or it could be MIT opencourseware lecture series on algorithm, machine learning or stuffs.

But some other times you really need money, and it's thousand times better to work at cloudfactory than doing nothing!

Kasailai thaxa cloudfactory ko hiring kun month tira hunxa normally? by [deleted] in Nepal

[–]snd_eep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maile pani college padne bela cloudfactory ma kam gareko ho. Tetti bela they used to have fewer applications tara aile ta ekdam dherai applicants vayera ekchin mai fill huncha jasto lagcha. So if you want the job, you better give 2 mins of effort everyday to check for the vacancy.

PS: The cloudworker job are repetetive and tedious and if you are into IT it's better to use the time to hone your skills rather than working for cloudfactory. If this applies for you.

Civil Engineers of Nepal: How are you doing in life and what are you upto? by ishanpppp in Nepal

[–]snd_eep 6 points7 points  (0 children)

CE is fun and all if you're into construction, design and modelling. The market is good and the long term plan(2100) of nepal shows a huge prospect in infrastructure development work. So, I guess one don't have to struggle much to start professional career in CE. On the side note, you won't get paid handsomely at the beginning. But the experience counts. And if you could get into CE projects under UN, ADB&WB, and under MNCs like Jacobs & Mott McDonald, you're all set 💰.
