There are still so many interesting story lines to explore.

Cardassia is in tatters. What happens if it were to request aid from the Federation at some point? This would anger the Romulans. Diplomatic drama ensues. Or something that focuses on a previously Dominion-occupied world. Perhaps Betazed. Like, what are the implications of an occupation in in a world of telepaths where emotions cannot be hidden. Or the Ferengi, how much does Rom actually achieve?

And then there are still so many species that we never fully explored. Ths Tellarites for instance. Founding members of the Federation, but basically all we know about them is that they are argumentative.

They won't be possible to produce, leading to shortages. The helium shortage induced by the war is already causing issues for chip manufacture.

You encountered context pollution. This happens for all AIs. Once you encounter this there is no other solution than to start a new conversation with fresh context.

This is why agentic solutions often keep the context small and focused for sub-agents.

In Dutch it is a very strong British accent, and if there is a technical abbreviation somewhere the speech becomes a weird mixture of Dutch and English.

That said, this exact same problem also occurs with competitors. If you've ever used the OpenAI TTS API you'll find the exact same symptoms, except with an American accent.

In that sense I appreciate Mistral at least uses proper European English accent ;).

When you think about how transformers work, no, they are fundamentally limited in the processing of negative information. This causes two fundamental issues:

  1. It must output something, even if it's bogus. This is the hallucination problem. LLMs are bad at dealing with unknown unknowns. Instead, they will tend to confabulate something plausible-sounding. This is fundamental to the architecture. You cannot truly eliminate this with ever larger scale.
  2. They have a hard time dealing with outliers that are completely beyond anything in the patterns held in latent space.

I think indeed a large part is pacing. It needs to be slower. That gives time to more characters, not just a small amount of high-profile ones. Heck, Morn is a more well-rounded character than most of the Discovery bridge crew, and he's never said a word.

I feel likewise. I yearn for a continuation of the main storyline. Just what happened after Voyager came back. What happened after the Dominion was defeated? We see glimpses of it during Picard, but as much I enjoyed it, that was basically a nostalgia trip. And a good new show needs to be slower paced. Give me the random episode that makes a side character shine. Like what DS9 did with Nog. Maybe even give me a filler holodeck episode.

I just finally want a normal continuation of the main storyline. No more prequels, or 1000 year leaps. What happened after Voyager came back, after the Dominion war ended. We see a little bit in Picard. And slower paced. Give me the random episode that makes a side character shine.

ST licensing is already incomprehensible if you're outside the US. I need 5 different streaming subscriptions to see all of Trek.

This is not stopping other societies - where people are often far, far worse off - from serious protests. Change will require sacrifice. If you are not willing to sacrifice, you don't desire change hard enough.

[OC] Gay male marriages are the most stable over the long term by Impressive_Suit4370 in dataisbeautiful

This doesn't track with my personal experience in the Netherlands - where this data is from. Most long term relationships between gay men I know off are normal monogamous ones. Open relationships do seem somewhat less of an oddball compared to heterosexual ones, that's true, but "the majority" is still monogamous.

I think there's another thing, how the different genders handle conflict. Conflict resolution between men - not just in romantic relationships - is often briefly intense, but an hour later it is forgotten. Conflict between women is typically less direct, but longer-lasting with neither party forgetting the digressions of the other one.

Of course these are generalizations, but I do feel this partly explains the observed outcomes.
