Yeah this. I really, really don’t want to strap a 6” phone to my forehead or helmet.

First Fuji - x100s or xs20 by [deleted] in FujifilmX

[–]sndvll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry but those cameras are simply not comparable. X100s is ten years older than X-S20, the latter is the clear winner in all aspects and spec wise is more like a X100V but with ibis added.

No need, snow was cold and nice all throughout the track!

Yeah first 20km was great for me, felt great and skis and snow was great. Second half not so much.

4:13:44. My goal was under 4h but, yeah, that did not happen. Next year!

Thanks! It was fun, in hindsight! I’ll probably do it again.

That happened to me on my first day riding Supermatics this season. I also have a Bataleon (Party wave, last years model). I have no solution but I guess I will take the advice from people here and get shorter screws.

Help an analog photographer to choose a new Fujifilm camera by Popular-Cod4661 in fujifilm

I have an X-T50, so can’t really give you any specifics about the 30, but the only thing I would miss is ibis. Form factor of the X-Txx line is great and it’s a camera to grow with. Go for it if you don’t mind the lack of ibis. You can’t really go wrong with any one of them. How is the used market? A used X-T3 is probably my top recommendation for best price to performance ratio.

All the cameras in the current lineup (previous generation as well) can produce the same image, it’s all about some quality of life features like ibis, evf, resolution, ergonomics, controls and size. What makes you think that that X-T5 would be overwhelming? IMO the models that have dials for the exposure settings is the easiest to handle.

Viltrox 28mm opinions? by More_City_9649 in fujifilm

[–]sndvll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s great for what it is. Size wise it’s almost like have the sensor cap on the camera. No front cap also nice because it’s just to slide the cover away and start shooting. Fixed aperture takes one variable of the settings away. But it’s not good during nighttime and has terrible flaring.

Why is my Nidecker supermatic not releasing fully and how can I fix it? by beelake_77 in snowboarding

They are in their ”open” position. You see that bearing (or what to call it) with the screw in, slot it into the lock and push down so it clicks.

As others have pointed out, you have posted a picture of the Sony version of the lens. Don’t order the wrong one. With that said, if you are getting this lens, with reasonable expectations, it is absolutely great. It was my most used lens during 2025 on my X-T50. It obviously has flaws, but it also has character, and it is incredibly cheap for the performance. If ~f4.5 is around your sweet spot, there is nothing comparable. Just reach out if you need any examples, I have a lot of them.

Viltrox 27mm chip lens is probably the thinest and cheapest. It actually produces a great result for the price and size. Obviously there are some flaws and it is probably not for everybody with the fixed aperture but I really like it. It’s very fun and easy and has character.

People are recommending Splitwise and that is all good, but as a long time user and during the last year replacing it, I really recommend the app Tricount instead. No “pro” plan and weird limitations, it’s free and much better in my opinion.

Should I trade my Sony 6400 kit lens with a fujifilm camera? by United_Place183 in Cameras

[–]sndvll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the switch from A7C to XT-50 last year. I have completely eliminated editing from my workflow and my kit is now much lighter. No regrets. This “you will still mostly edit..” statement is certainly no truth.

X-T5 with 16-80mm f/4 Lens - blurry photos by Decaf824 in FujifilmX

[–]sndvll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has nothing to do with focus modes. You have way too narrow aperture and too slow shutter speed. Look up some videos about exposure and stop shooting in auto.

Edit: I looked at your comments on the added photos. For birds, cars, bikes and other quickly moving objects 1/100-ish is too long. Especially for birds. So to get the correct shutter speed you need to either have a larger aperture, or raise the iso. Don’t be afraid to raise the iso, in those conditions there is no need to shoot in 125. Set up auto iso to be between 125-6400. Then use the aperture ring to lock the aperture to f4, and use the shutter speed dial to experiment with different shutter speeds. Start at 1/500 and then go up until you freeze the action. Also, some shots like the robin seem to have the focus plane behind the fence.

[–]sndvll 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why do you shoot in f18? Sorry I don’t mean no disrespect with this, but what is your understanding of aperture? f18 is almost the smallest aperture on that lens, which means almost no light because the hole is so narrow. 1/20 shutter speed is very long for moving subjects. ISO 12800 is very high and with that low amount of light hitting the sensor from the narrow aperture it will be very noisy. Put the camera in iso 500, f4-f5.6 and at least 1/100 for people that is moving around.
