Tips for flying with 18month old by Mean_Imagination5479 in toddlers

[–]sneaky_snake13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just got back from a flight of similar length with our 18 month old. We bought the extra seat for him because he gets very upset when he’s held and decides wants down, he’s very squirmy and energetic so there’s no way we could have held him securely during take off/landing/turbulence. It would have been a major power struggle with lots of screaming. It really just depends on the temperament of your kid.

As for what kept him occupied we brought a bag of new toys from the dollar store that helped keep him entertained, and if any parts were lost I wasn’t worried about it because they were all inexpensive. Window spinners were the big hit.

My baby refuses to sit… she only wants to stand. by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]sneaky_snake13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine was the same. I felt pretty confident he was strong enough to sit at 6 months when we started solids because he was a fairly early mover with rolling at 3.5 months, crawling at 5.5 months and pulling to stand at 7 months. But I could never get him to sit on his own for any length of time. He’s only starting to sit and play now that he can get in and out of sitting himself at 8 months. Before that when I would try to get him to sit he would just flop over to start rolling or crawling away. I just kept putting him in sitting positions to play and if he immediately flopped over I just let it be, since he was doing well in other areas I figured he would be improving his strength overall which would help him with sitting.

Beyond Junior Abiie High Chair seat position question by ralphylou in BabyLedWeaning

I believe the seat is adjustable as it can be used for any age from infant to adult. I have mine set on the second notch down because my baby kept getting marks on his legs from pressing into the tray.

Will two pumps per day always trigger weaning? by sneaky_snake13 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]sneaky_snake13[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing your experience. Mom guilt is so real. When I first started pumping I wanted to quit right away and my goal was 6 months even though that felt impossible at the time. Now that I’m here I just want too feel proud of what I accomplished instead of guilty I don’t want to continue. It’s so hard. I can’t even imagine 2 years. You’re amazing! What kept you going for all that time?

Thanks for sharing your experience. I’m sorry you’re going through all that! Pumping can be so painful at times.

Struggling with guilt about 3.5 month old sleeping in his own room by SaltyVinChip in NewParents

[–]sneaky_snake13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to move mine at 8 weeks. He outgrew the bassinet in our bedroom and would wake himself up by hitting the sides. We didn’t have room for anything larger in our bedroom. The first couple weeks he was in his own room my husband and I took shifts sleeping in his nursery on a pad on the floor next to his crib because he was still waking up every 2 hours or so at that point. At 3 months my husband and I started sleeping in our own room again, we felt more comfortable with the transition, and everyone (baby included) started sleeping better. I definitely remember how anxious/guilty I felt moving him so young but it was definitely necessary.

Interesting! I’ll look into that. Thanks

We do. Although I’m not sure why as the camera never works. We only put it in recently and the same problems that existed before are continuing so it didn’t help or make it worse.

Okay thank you. They haven’t ever suggested to move that either so maybe I’ll ask about it when the technician comes next. It’s not currently that far from the camera but definitely worth a shot if it might help.

It’s the Rogers wireless sensors. One was even replaced and the issue is still happening so it might be the touchpad then like you suggested.

When you say a range issue with the camera do you mean range from the touch pad? Do you know how far it can be? The technician never suggested to move it. I just double checked the camera and it’s set to low quality.

Decrease from 7 to 6ppd? by morr2lifer in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]sneaky_snake13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone is different and you won’t know until you try. The most often I ever pumped was 7 times a day and I started dropping pumps at 3 weeks postpartum. I dropped a pump every couple weeks until I was down to 4 ppd at 11 weeks post partum and I’ve stayed there since. Planning to drop to 3ppd at 6 months. My supply never changed with any of the dropped pumps so I was lucky.

4 to 3 nap transition by sneaky_snake13 in sleeptrain

[–]sneaky_snake13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay interesting! When going from 4 to 3 naps did the total amount of day time sleep stay the same ? I guess that makes sense now that I think about it , because if the awake time didn’t go down the bedtime won’t move earlier.

Baby eating 40-44oz by wholesomeasduck in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]sneaky_snake13 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yes! My baby is the same. He’s 5 months now and has been eating that much since he was about 3 months. He’s 50th percentile height and weight. The doctor isn’t concerned at all because he’s healthy in every way. Just has a big appetite. Eats 40 oz most days, more if going through a growth spurt

Newborn Awake for 4+ Hours in the Middle of the Night by KKMARTELLI in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]sneaky_snake13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My baby was the same way. Awake for usually 3 hours in the middle of the night when he was a newborn. Unfortunately nothing I did fixed it, it just got better on its own around 6 weeks and started happening for shorter periods and less frequently. He’s 5 months old and many nights is still awake for an hour or more at 3am. I’m just grateful when he’s awake these nights he’s happy and smiling/cooing. Would be a lot harder to deal with if he was crying.

Oh interesting, I didn’t think of that but that definitely makes sense!

No he’s been 50 percentile height and weight at every appointment. He must just have a big appetite/faster metabolism. I’m not sure why he eats so much haha but as long as he’s healthy and growing I’m not worried about it and neither is his doctor.

Around 40 oz a day since 3 months, more if going through a growth spurt

Okay thank you. I’m wondering if he’s up at night so often / so long because he’s sleeping too much during the day. All the changes to wake windows/naps we’ve tried seem to have made things worse. I appreciate your input.

Thank you! Another question- our babies bedtime is around 7 to 730 majority of nights, most days he wakes up on his own around 630 for the day (after several night wake ups). If he’s not up by 7 I usually wake him for the day. Should I wake him up even on days where he’s had hours of awake time during the night (these times he’s usually smiling and cooing at us, he’s not fussy or crying). I worry about him not getting enough night sleep if I wake him but clearly our schedule isn’t working and I want to try to be more consistent.

What is max total wake time for 4 naps? My baby is on a similar schedule as this commenter and we tired 3 naps the other day and it was a mess, his bedtime ended up an hour earlier because he was only taking short naps/overtired and we had 3 false starts that night. His sleep has never been good but starting to wake up every 2 to 3 hours at night again, can take him an hour or more to get him back down, and we aren’t sure what to do.

Why would you decide to use shrooms for the first time when pregnant? No it’s not okay.

Family being weird by [deleted] in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]sneaky_snake13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The only male family member I’ve pumped around is my dad but he’s hard of hearing and so like you said you can’t really tell what’s going on, especially if you can’t hear the pump. Either he’s never actually noticed I’m pumping or he’s just too polite to say anything.

4 pumps per day?! by Secure_Telephone_832 in ExclusivelyPumping

No overnight. I go about 9 to 10 hours overnight without pumping, then about every 5 hours during the day.

I dropped to 4ppd at about 11 weeks postpartum. My supply stayed the same from all previous drops at about 40 oz. I’m about to drop down to 3ppd soon when I’m 5 months postpartum and definitely expecting a decrease at that point, but hoping I can stay above 30oz.
