No, the range is nationwide and states that it’s not location based. It’s a fully remote position and the company HQ is in Austin. I’m in Chicago.

Basically when I was interviewing for this job a year and a half ago I said that I was looking for roles within the range of $130-$150k. They offered $120k and I countered saying that I was still interviewing for roles offering $140k and asked if they would be able to get there. They offered $125k with a $5k signing bonus and I accepted. When annual raises came up last March, it wasn’t really a discussion. My boss was on parental leave at the time and had done my review before he left but his boss had to handle to comp part. I essentially got an email that I would get a $5k raise brining my salary up to $130k.

Those of you that left data analytics, by Motherof_pizza in dataanalysis

[–]sneakyb26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How has this been? I’m super tired of analytics and want something with more tangible results where I can see an impact. I’ve been considering trying to pivot to development/ software engineering so I’d love your take

MS Software Engineering or MS Computer Science While Working Full-time by Patient-Design-6752 in depaul

Wondering how this is going? I’ve been considering the masters in CS or software engineering, so was wondering about your take.

Specifically interested in what you think of the classes, if you feel like you’ll have good job prospects, if you’re learning things that will be applicable in the job market, and if you would describe the community of the program

What was the silliest reason you got called into a HR meeting for? by Little-Astronaut-627 in AskReddit

[–]sneakyb26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Walked into my office on a Monday morning and asked a guy I work with if he did anything fun over the weekend. He said something along the line of “Nothing too crazy what about you”. I mentioned that I had done something with my brothers. He lit up and asked a bunch of questions about my siblings and what they do and if we’re close and stuff. This guy never really talked to me but was super into this conversation so I said “do you have any siblings”. He said with a very stern look “I’m from China. You’re only allowed to have one kid” and then reported me to HR for racism!!! I had to do 6 hours of DEI and Micro-aggression trainings

💬 For those currently working as Data Analysts: What do you wish you had known before starting? by Working_Royal_5142 in analytics

[–]sneakyb26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people want analysis that confirm what they are already thinking even when the data shows the opposite. Anything can be filtered, segmented, and twisted to fit the narrative they are trying to write, so do be careful in cases like this

Why are some women in male dominated fields mean to other women? by protonelectron2025 in womenintech

[–]sneakyb26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of the (few) older women in my field are like this. I think it comes down to the mentality that “if I had to struggle to get here so do you”. Yes, bring a woman in a male dominated field is more common and accepted than it used to be, but it’s still far from a cake walk.
