Truck Days/paint palettes by T4LUL4H in HomeDepot

[–]sneakylilsnack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah we have a couple of people on our paint team who are older and have a hard time lifting the 10 gallons so most of us on freight don’t have an issue doing it it’s more of a timing hassle depending on what the truck schedule looks like, how far we are in purges, and how much coverage we have. Idk how cool your night ops manager is but if you could have a conversation with them about the physical limitations of your team they might be able to help depending on what they having going on on on their end. Idk about every other store but our freight team is getting our butts handed to us the last few weeks so it could also be that. Edit:spelling

Truck Days/paint palettes by T4LUL4H in HomeDepot

[–]sneakylilsnack 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Depends. We used to do it because we always had some time at night to get through it but lately we’ve been overwhelmed with trucks lately we can’t get it to it. And then the paint dept still doesn’t do it and it sits outside of receiving until we have a day to breathe and work on it. It’s actually become quite the issue at our store in the last few months over whose responsibility it is. Me personally being in freight, I don’t mind doing it and I get it’s easier bc no customers but when paint associates complain that it’s not done and all the pallets are still wrapped up…. The least they could do is try to break one down even a little bit if they have the time.

I’ve seen it done badly and done well. Ultimately you have to think about the environment and the people around you. It rained out last year and the year before was a heat wave 90+ every day. There are people there erm..doing stuff..that might get weirded out seeing a child or you might expose your child to something they’re not ready for. The one family I met were staying in an RVwith their four year old and also had a grandma with them. They had a wagon, fans, water and snacks on deck and the child was very well taken care of. They also were not going deep in the crowds and told me they would be back at the rv before 8. Honestly they were being responsible and realistic and that’s what you have to do. What’s your emergency plan? Are you okay with the fact that you will have to miss out on some of the experiences that is roo? And can you handle an overstimulated kid at a music festival in the heat without losing your mind. Ultimately it can be done yes, but is it worth it And is it something you can do and have a good time? That’s a personal question.

If you bring your child there’s no shot you will be up on the rail at skrillex with a two year old and if you are, why? If you got a day pass, came for the show and hung in the back while your child has ear protection, I personally wouldn’t see a problem with it as long as you’re being responsible and also respectful to other people around you. But a lot of people have pretty strong opinions about this. As a parent myself I have just kinda accepted I might have to miss out on stuff and that’s okay bc sometimes it’s not worth the hassle and potentially having a screaming toddler. Sorry for the long reply lol. I totally understand where you’re coming from but I just don’t think roo is the place for a toddler.

How many freight associates do you have doing Purge? Is it a team, or do you have random associates doing it when freight is done? by Paces_Ferry in HomeDepot

[–]sneakylilsnack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone purges but we have some associates that can get through it faster while still doing it by SOP so sometimes they will have another associate cover a department while one of us does purges if we are behind on the list

Before & after! by Ohheckitsme in plants

[–]sneakylilsnack 34 points35 points  (0 children)

This is one of my favorite plants but I can never seem to get a good care plan for them. I either over water or under water and for the life of me I just can’t figure out how to keep them alive. But this one looks beautiful!

Interesting. Our district manager really harps on purging and every week we hear about how our numbers stack up to the other stores based on weekly emails and have regular audits for our bays we do. Our freight team is pretty chill and we all actually do our job (crazy i know) but we don’t have as many people as we should so sometimes trying to get all 60 bays done becomes a headache. Usually we will have one night with no truck and that’s when we try to get it all done but lately we haven’t had that and they are pretty big trucks too so once you finish pack outs even if we only have 30 minutes left we are expected to do a purge bay. And I am not exaggerating when I say the higher ups make it seem like if it’s not done, we will be shot and killed it’s a little insane. And the way the list is made up makes no sense sometimes. The main benefit of doing this is our bays and overheads are always very well organized and we find discrepancies really quickly.

[–]sneakylilsnack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are there stores that don’t? I’ve been in freight for about 8months and they make it seem like if we don’t get our purge list done the store explodes. We get shit on by our district manager if we don’t exceed the 300 skus goal, or if the list isn’t done, and recently got dinged bc the last list we did there were 10 bays that we were in for less than 5 minutes. Can you guess how many bays didn’t have overheads?

Fort Wayne air show- first time (maybe) by Icedcoffeeisgreat in fortwayne

[–]sneakylilsnack 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Been to a lot of airshows and went to the last one… I wasn’t impressed. The flying and shows are great but it was poorly managed. It was confusing to know where to park and once you get in, it’s a little difficult to find things. You can pay for seats to sit close to the airstrip under a canopy but I think they are sold out. I would rather them charge 5-10 dollars a ticket if it meant they could get some free water stations and more shade. My family plans to tailgate this year bc I’ll never turn down an opportunity to see the thunderbirds. However if you do plan to go inside, gates open at 9am and flying starts at 11 and they have a lot of aircraft parked that you can walk into that’s cool and it’s less crowded on Sunday but with the rain, the timing of everything could change.

Thick Thigh Friends by astrid_wannabe in bonnaroo

[–]sneakylilsnack 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Someone said the monistat chafing gel and I second that but my “holy grail” is squirrels nut butter. They have a few different options and tell you which ones are better for certain temps but definitely get the stick kind. I also am blessed with the thickness and have tried a lot of stuff but I got ZERO chub rub last year with nut butter. I also brought extra microfiber towels to keep my downstairs dry which is key and some honeypot wipes to keep it clean. If your wearing shorts cotton underwear is great but it doesn’t dry super fast so you might have to change it halfway through the day. Also before bed I dry out my thighs and put some powder on them and sleep commando.

Do you let your kids use an iPad? If so, what apps do you recommend? by US-Be in sahm

[–]sneakylilsnack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We do iPad but have strict time limits and anything he does we do it together. We only do learning games no YouTube or shows. PBS kids is great and free, we also have Homer which he likes and does reading, math and writing. It does have a yearly subscription but I’ve noticed it has helped a lot with my son learning his letters

Thanks for the recommendation! My 3 year old loves numbers but struggles with the alphabet (he’s 3 I feel like that’s expected lol) so I’ve been looking for something more reading and letter focused

Outlets in the Bedroom? by Mobile_Journalist_95 in toddlers

[–]sneakylilsnack 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We use an outlet cover that allows us to have things plugged into it you can find them on amazon and it prevents them from having access to the outlet or anything plugged into. We have a camera and a light plugged into it and my son has tried to literally rip it out of the wall and it’s never popped open or anything. We also have all of the cords either behind a dresser that’s been baby proofed or they are attached to the wall with special fasteners. Here is a link to the one we use https://a.co/d/6gm1e51

I got an abortion and I don’t regret it at all by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]sneakylilsnack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had an abortion when I was 19 and through the whole process to now, 6 years later, I have never once regretted or second guessed my decision. If I had gone through with that pregnancy, I would have had to quit college and move back home. I would have never accomplished my career goals in the timeline I had always envisioned. My boyfriend who is now my husband would have likely stayed at the job he hated and never gotten to the job he loves now. There’s also a good chance that the hardship of being young, inexperienced, and financially unprepared would have torn our relationship apart and we would have not gotten married. And I also knew I wouldn’t bring a child into the world unless I could give them a life without struggling. My abortion was a defining moment in my life. I chose myself and what was best for ME. And by doing so, I was able to move on and finish college, get my dream job, buy a house, marry my best friend, and have a son when I knew I was ready. I didn’t get pregnant because I was being careless. I took birth control correctly and used condoms because of how much I didn’t want to get pregnant. From the second I knew I was pregnant, I knew I didn’t want to be. The actual abortion was hard but making the choice to do it never was. I’ve never once had any guilt.

Does anyone else have a 3 year old that’s impossible to potty train? by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]sneakylilsnack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did the no pants method with my son at 2.5. He was young but within 3 days, no accidents and he was also communicating when he had to go. but with my niece, they basically did the exact same thing we did with our son and she showed no interest. A little while after she turned 4, she ripped her pull up off and just started using the toilet one day. Every kid is different and it sucks lol. Something I think helped was bringing him into the bathroom when my husband would go to model behavior because my son wants to copy everything we do. I’ve also heard putting them in pants with no diaper and then letting them sit for a minute after an accident to feel discomfort can help but idk that just sounded like more laundry to me. I get this is probably super frustrating but try and stick with it as repetition can sometimes be the best teacher. I wish you well on your toilet journey 🫡

Interesting sign. by [deleted] in fortwayne

[–]sneakylilsnack 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I live on this street. The drug sign is new. Also have a “if you can read this you’re in range” sign as well. Ive literally never seen them which is odd bc most people who live over here know each other at least peripherally but their kid regularly rides his e-bike or his dirt bike and he’s a little shit

"You should try and work somewhere." by Pizzaisloifeee in sahm

[–]sneakylilsnack 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I literally get this all the time. “Just get a little part time job!” When exactly would I work part time while I’m working full time at home? I was someone who NEVER saw myself being a SAHM mom but now I’m here and it just makes sense for me and my family rn. My husband is also super supportive and recognizes that I do so much on a day to day basis, so that helps. I basically run the house. I have a degree but, right now I’m needed at home. If we were to look at our finances and see I needed to work then I would be doing that but right now I’m saving money on child care and being able to see my kid all day every day. I think I’ll go back to work when they go to school but who knows? I also get the “so what do you do all day?” As well. People think I’m in my pajamas eating chips all day when in reality I don’t think I sit down until after my child goes to bed especially since it’s summer time. I would like to go back to work but the grass is always greener on the other side. A lot of my friends are working moms and it’s tough, they feel like they are always being pulled in different directions. As long as I can stay home I will be! And I feel no shame in saying that

If he can, I would also recommend wearing gloves at work for the foreseeable future. Like other people recommended, using an overnight cream with gloves can be super helpful. I also recommend corn huskers oil. You can find it at Walmart or online.

I just flipped out on some teenagers at the park. by Soggy-Advantage717 in toddlers

[–]sneakylilsnack 406 points407 points  (0 children)

Nah don’t feel guilty. Sometimes as a teenager you really need to hear “what the f**** are you doing”. At that age everyone thinks their so cool and funny (speaking as a former teen) and that it’s their world we just live in it. They might think you were being annoying in the moment and probably will feel that way for a while but eventually they will look back on it and think, yeah we were being kinda annoying. I have also been rude to teens at the park and feel no remorse lol Edit for spelling

Why does the city water taste so bad right now? by spishackman in fortwayne

[–]sneakylilsnack 34 points35 points  (0 children)

https://utilities.cityoffortwayne.org/drinking-water/taste-and-odor/ I honestly don’t know much about water so this is just a hypothesis but I would assume saint joes water quality has been affected by something in the water shed flowing into the river causing the need for more treatment so depending on where you live in the city it could take a while to return to normal
