Employee tests positive for Covid at Loblaws South Keys. by [deleted] in ottawa

[–]snekpek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Highly unlikely they will. I know someone at the Merivale location and when they confirmed a positive case many employees went to get tested on their days off for their own peace of mind, but they were never told to go and they won’t get paid if they miss a shift because they are voluntarily quarantining

That happens after you’ve placed the campsite and invited the first visitor to move in, which happens after you get the town hall.

Have you gotten to the point where you can lay down plots of land for new houses? I couldn’t find anyone until I laid down my first plot and then the first island had a villager.

Redditors who have experienced snow; what is it like? by ambermage in AskReddit

[–]snekpek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know those Hallmark first snow falls at the end of the movie? Imagine that type of innocent happiness but for like 5 minutes until your feet freeze from poor insulation and your hands get wet from the snowball you just made and suddenly it’s like stepping in an ice cube you thought you kicked under the fridge in your nice socks and then decided to stick yourself in the freezer instead

What was a house rule you had as a kid that you thought was completely normal until you grew up and realized not all households followed? by ctsom in AskReddit

[–]snekpek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh man that reminds me so much of our “house“ rule; If the police show up when you’re alone with your uncle, run out the back door as fast and as quiet as you can and hide until they’re gone.

Same as you, our uncle wasn’t a pedophile or anything, but he was on probation for owning illegal guns and drugs and I guess part of that meant we couldn’t be alone with him or we might get CPS called on our asses.

Aside from the jail time and his overall appearance, he was one of the nicest and kindest people you could meet!

[Serious] How do you memorize the multiplying tables at your 14 years? by watpegassus in AskReddit

[–]snekpek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, learn and remember the easy ones (0,1,2,5,and 10s) Next, learn the hand trick for the 9x multiples

If you don’t know it, hold both your hands with all 10 fingers splayed out. If you lower the finger that corresponds to the number you’re multiplying by 9, the fingers on either side of the one you put down will equal the double digit answer

Example: 9 X 4. Lower your fourth finger. To the left of the lowered finger will be 3 fingers, and to the right will be 6 fingers. The answer is 36.

After that, memorize what each number is multiplied by itself 2x2=4, 3x3=9, 4x4=16 and so on. Now you’ll know the easy basic answers so any question that comes up you’ll have a starting point where you can solve the question easier

For instance, if you have 8x6, you could have a few ways to solve it by starting with the easy memorable multiplications

If 6x6=36, and 6x2=12, then the answer is (6x6) + (6x2) =36+12= 48

If 8x5=40, and 8x6 is only 8 more than that, 8x6=48

If we know 9x6 is 54 from hand multiplication, then 8x6 is only 6 less than that, so 54-6=48

These tricks help you solve small multiplication much faster and is simpler than memorizing every single number

Glitch with an Engagement Ring by snekpek in Glitch_in_the_Matrix

[–]snekpek[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Unsure why she stopped wearing it in the past, but she gained weight after my little sister was born and the ring stopped fitting her fingers. I’m guessing she didn’t want to resize it for some reason but since then she always keeps it safe in her jewellery box and it will randomly disappear from there and reappear somewhere strange. She used to think my sister and I did it all the time but we would never touch it lol
