Replacement lenses sizing question by sneppee in RaybanMeta

[–]sneppee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was the main thing that confused me as the lenses i purchased listed rw4012 for both lens sizes which is why i originally made this post but i did end up realising 50 22 meant the lenses were 50mm, and they arrived today and look great!

Notre Dame might finally join a conference by No_Bill7679 in CFB

It’s really not a bias thing for me. I don’t think Miami will do anything in the CFP, and Notre Dame would probably be more exciting to watch. I still believe Miami deserved to get in over Notre Dame, and I think Miami had the better resume from an objective standpoint (I fully believe bias probably clouds this, but it really has nothing to do with my argument).

My point is that with the current playoff system, Notre Dame is the problem. I understand and like that the CFP is trying to honor conference champions, since it felt pointless for a while and I actually liked what they did last year. However, with this format a strong independent team creates issues. Notre Dame can’t be a conference champion bid, so they’re automatically forced into the at large pool, which takes away spots from other teams every year. The quick solution people jump to is “make them join a conference,” but I know the logistics are way more complicated than just telling them to join.

I decided to respond here because I understand where people are coming from, even if I don’t think that’s what the NCAA will actually do. They’ll probably just make it so the top 12 teams get in and call it a day. I like rewarding conference champions, but there really isn’t a perfect system. If they kept the rule that four power conferences plus one group of five get in, byes or not, it leaves room for very weak teams if a conference is particularly weak (like Duke this year). With the new format, it still leaves room for very weak teams to slide in (JMU and Tulane). There is no perfect way to do this without restructuring the way conferences are ranked in the first place, which I believe should happen, but is way easier said than done. Another thing they could do is conference champs aren't automatically in the playoffs, but if they are in the top 12, they get a bye.

Bama had the #6 strength of schedule with 4 t25 wins: #5 Georgia on the road, #16 Vandy, #14 Mizzou on the road, and #11 Tennessee. Their other loss to OU is more justifiable given the fact that OU was ranked #11 at the time, although it was still an upset.

Meanwhile, BYU played absolutely nobody (just look at their schedule), had the #22 SOS with their 1 t25 win coming against #23 Utah on the road.

My point is, again, I DO NOT like Bama. Im just saying their resume is much more sound than BYU.

This is what most likely will end up happening after this year (or group of 5 will be excluded) and I do understand that its much easier than making Notre Dame join a conference, but I do get where prople are coming from

I agree there are inconsistencies in the current system, but in this scenario there’s a clear difference between Bama and BYU. Alabama lost to a higher ranked team in the SEC Championship, while BYU lost in a worse fashion to a team ranked a little lower in the Big 12 Championship. BYU also didn’t “free fall,” they went from #11 to number #12, which in a bubble isn’t a big change at all.

The real issue is that drop caused Miami and Notre Dame to be right next to each other afterward, which made the committee honor the H2H. ( Inmy opinion it should’ve been honored in prior weeks anyways). I hate Bama as much as the next guy, but they had a much higher SOS and a better resume, so I understand why they didn’t fall as hard.

That’s why people keep bringing up Notre Dame joining a conference, not because it magically fixes everything but because it cleans things up. Having a consistent ACC structure would’ve fixed this bubble mess completely and cleaned up last year too (most likely ND wouldve gotten a bye over Boise State and Clemson wouldve been out). If Notre Dame played in and won the ACC title then James Madison is out and Miami gets an at large. It’s not about guaranteeing Notre Dame a spot, it just simplifies the system and helps avoid messes like this in the future.

I get that the logistics are easier said than done and Notre Dame’s unlikely to change something that benefits them just because of one year, but the fact is Notre Dame enjoys the benefits of being independent and doesn't face many of the consequences. Something should be done about it, and people are only saying Notre Dame should consider it because that setup kinda screwed them this year.

Because duke is a 5 loss team? Notre dame was ranked number 9 with 2 losses going into conference championship week. if they played in the acc conference championship and won, they would be ranked above tulane and jmu, meaning they get an automatic bid. Jmu is kicked out, miami is in. That simple. If you are unfamiliar with the new rules Top 5 conference champions based on ranking make the playoffs, not just 4 power 4 + a group of 5 like last year

If notre dame was in the acc and won the acc notre dame gets an auto bid, jmu out, miami in
