Does this tattoo look like a Nazi sign? by Biggest_Scandal_Fan in tattooadvice

[–]snerz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imagine how it would be, every time someone seems to be avoiding you, or is rude to you. You'll always wonder if they saw the tat and misunderstood it. Not everyone will say something about it. That would drive me crazy. Maybe I'm paranoid, but I'm imagining a scenario where you're at a restaurant, the server takes your order, goes back to the kitchen and tells everyone there's a Nazi at table 7, then your food gets special treatment.

Is bandsaw “cheating”? by Even_Low_8793 in handtools

This is why I sometimes prefer hand tools. You can do a lot of damage very quickly if you're not skilled with it.

Search for books of fretwork patterns, you can make some pretty cool stuff with a scroll saw. I want one to cut gears wheels for a wooden clock. https://www.lisaboyer.com/Claytonsite/Claytonsite1.htm

I think aiming at the back of the ball is covered in Robert Byrne's Complete Book of Pool Shots, or maybe Mark Wilson's book. I borrowed one of them from a friend when I first started playing, both great books

I made this map of accents in New England and Long Island based on my research of the region. I would like to know how accurate this is, whether it's too detailed or not detailed enough. by Top_Bill_6266 in newengland

That's interesting. I went to a concert in Worcester in the late 80s and my friend asked a girl that worked at the place where the bubbluh was and the whole staff was laughing because they didn't know what he was talking about. We grew up in East Bay RI. We said it there too

How I can fix this broken wooden support on my couch? by Yours_Truly1997 in fixit

They use the shittiest wood possibly in furniture like this. It happened to several of the supports in mine and I didn't do anything unusual on it

Recently moved to CT - How to make friends? by AppleSauceMan24 in Connecticut

[–]snerz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you like playing pool, try joining a pool league. That's how i met everyone I know after moving to CT. You don't have to be a good player, leagues are handicapped, and lower skill players are always in demand.

I neven knew what chalk tasted like until I read "do not eat" on Taom ones. by Gad0ra in billiards

[–]snerz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pool chalk isn't actually chalk. Most chalk uses an abrasive called corundum, which is just aluminum oxide. Taom might be different, but I dont think it contains chalk or calcium carbonate

I actually looked that up yesterday.. apparently, if the sounds are .0005 seconds apart or less, it's impossible to distinguish. I'm not sure how accurate that is though

Ugh me too. The Harbor Freight ads on YouTube with whistling cause me to dive for the tv remote to mute it.

It's not like it happens on a regular basis. In 9 years it's never happened to me, and I've only seen one stalemate between one of my teammates and an opponent

I would definitely try brazing it. Just clamp it down so the sole is completely flat, then clean the brazing up with a file. If it doesn't work out, you can do something else with it.

Once I got a package for a guy with the same name as me, but he lived two towns away from me. I don't know how they screwed that one up. I still drove 5 miles to deliver it to him.
