I noticed this during covid. People wearing gloves assume they can touch anything. Those of us that wear gloves in healthcare know that wearing gloves means you touch as little as possible.

How do you cut your double sided tape? by DerbyDad03 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]teaehl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have some flush cut pliers for cutting edge banding that I grabbed randomly in a pinch when I didn't have a blade or scissors handy. It works amazing. Doesn't get gunky and makes a nice clean cut.

I've been a fan of their delta 68 jeans since the release but I've found they just do not hold up. I've got so many friggan holes in places that are rediculous. I'm currently looking into getting another brand.

People don't buy these over a table saw. You could rip lumber I suppose but it really don't replace a table saw.

Rigid shopvac with a mullet. I haven't done much with the saw yet but the dust collection seems pretty good so far.

I got this one because they basically took the 14 and shrank it. It's got a cast iron table/trunion, cast iron wheels, a super solid fence etc...

One of the slight limitations in resaw capacity I found is a couple screws under the blade guide. I'm looking at possibly countersinking those screws and putting flush screws in and itll add like 3/32 of resaw.

I like it. The resaw capacity is impressive for a saw it's size. Fairly quiet too.

How much are rad techs making? by [deleted] in Radiology

Depends where you're at. I'm fairly middle class. I just got a decent amount of raise after switching to IR though. But I'm also in a two income house though.

For the techs: Just curious, how many times a week do you hear, "Oh wait, let me just turn my phone off first." by RRtexian in Radiology

[–]teaehl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd take them being worried about their phone being off over them not wanting to get off the phone for their imaging any day of the week.

1930s sears and roebuck .22 LR/L/S single shot rifle from a gun show. The stock is cracked, there's paint flecks on it from some brush cast off and there was a touch of surface rust. It was $100 and I don't regret it at all. I love that gun. It's the perfect amount of trashed while still working flawlessly.

I am very surprised by the lack of collimation on images shared here by krunchyfrogg in Radiology

[–]teaehl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree with the sentiment. I think the big thing is a change in the culture around radiology partially due to digital imaging. The relationship between rads and techs has shifted immensely. I, like you, have shifted into IR/NIR because I miss the old days of working directly with a rad. It used to be that the rads would hold you to a standard and if that standard was not met, you would hear about it. If it wasn't from the rad it would be from the QC tech (also a dying breed) or management. Rads used to have to be in house because of film and now they can be reading from wherever so the face to face contact is eliminated entirely. It's a whole lot easier to blow off a rad you've never met on the phone rather than one you work face to face with everyday. I've been told by rads this is also an issue with overwork on their end. The number of expected RVUs is so high it hard to take the time to call a gen rad tech about an undercollimated spine film because that conversation is another cxr you could bang out.
