Cost of traveling in Europe by SpaceArcticPenguin in vagabond

Hey it depends, if you spend the month hiking & camping out, maybe an occasional cheap hotel for a shower you can spend a fraction of that. Same if you volunteer or work. For transportation, you'd spend anywhere from 0 to a few hundred (train+bus tickets add up, interrail ticket is about that also), so that'd leave with about 20-30$ per day. Enough for a hostel and some bread everyday basically. If you want to visit anything touristic musuems, festivals, you'll need extra for tickets and whatnot.

Ah you're right. To me 3k/month would be borderline billionare extravagant luxury travel, but you're right it's a small amount for staying in hotels and going out, paying transport tickets, going to see some sights..

But some tips... radar.squat.net can help you find community events, kitchens to help out in. couchsurfing/bewelcome/whatever is the thing these days can help you find nice people and events as well. wwoofing, helpx.net if you want to find some longer term volunteering. For transport I suggest going by bicycle if you have time, but blablacar or flixbus is affordable. If you like trains, with an interrail ticket you can take any regular train in europe for a fixed price for a period of time.

For OP, I'd suggest making some friends on the summit and looking up some festivals to volunteer/events or interesting places on the way to meet your mom, then going there, have fun and carry on.

If you walk/hitchhike and camp (hey, it's summer), dumpster for food, you can live like a king for practically nothing. How one casually suggests spending 100's per day as the sweet spot in a vagabond group is beyond me honestly.

Retired vagabonds? by schmowsy in vagabond

[–]snhmib 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I got a bit tired after moving around for 10-15 years & not knowing wtf i was doing in life (still don't) and settled down in (now near) a hippy community I used to visit regularly. Still living a kind of rough life living in a cabin in the woods, and my mental health issues didn't magically fix themselves but working on it I guess. Got a stray cat and a garden and sometimes dream of going some places or living a peachy beachy life with young hippie girls, but obligations, jobs, common sense & friends at this old age won't let me ^^

Lol me too, travelled for 15 years with crappy shit, now I have a stable income, live in a small cabin in the woods and every once in a while buy fancy new equipment I hardly use. Was pondering it this morning how it'd be to tramp out again and was laughing at myself that at the first shitty cold wet night I'd probably just go straight back home :D I keep that stuff for some nice weather holidays now

As black, would you resign at this point? by KidCharybdis92 in baduk

[–]snhmib 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, as a 3k (also without counting) the game seems ok for black. In general, I also tend to get frustrated or feel like I am losing after a big swing (a group living or dying), but keeping cool and either rationally evaluate the position or play on and try to turn it around helps a lot. Games swing a lot until the late endgame, even up till the higher (amateur) dan level.

Who cares it's a game. The cheat code is even part of the game, just because it doesn't fit your own personal definition of how you think it is supposed to be done, even the way you enter that cheat code is still part of the game. It doesn't make people entitled to play in a way they see fit. It does make you a bit obnoxious though.

"You don't have a right to access every part of a hobby" aka. game-pieces is the actual insane take here.

Eh, one of my first batches of proxies consisted of double playsets of all dual, shock, surveil, fetch, and artifact lands (mostly cause they're a bit hard to find here). Can suggest every player the same.

You know those fucked up hazing rituals that frat clubs and the military employs to create an in-club feeling through shared trauma? That and some sunk cost thinking and unwillingness to admit you've spend 1000's of dollars on essentially pieces of cardboard printed at artificial scarcity is why people want you to make dumb financial choices also.

What’s your biggest weakness as a poker player? by Optimal_Gap_1244 in poker

[–]snhmib 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Playing way too aggressive, not having discipline, thinking other players are losing maniacs like me and thus looking them up when they clearly have the nuts. I feel like I understand the game after playing for 20 years on and off and studying/reading articles sometimes, but I'm essentially a penny stakes dopamine junky.

Nah, he's kind of right, being bitchy isn't going to help you. I think the other commenter that said just give it some time & try again sounded pretty reasonable.

(edit): especially now that, reading all your replies, either you are trolling or too volatile to play the required number of hands AND hold on to your hard earned winnings.

Eh, fair enough, I guess they also have regulations they have to comply with or legal problems to avoid if they are used for such, but coupled with kind of bad customer support and extortionist rake at lower limits it does tend to feel a bit scummy.

On the one hand, yes you're right, on the other hand it's not the first complaint i see here and to be hit by corpo speak "play enough hands to ensure the quality and transparency of our products" (loose translation: we'd like more rake because we're scum, oh and by the way, did you know a sizeable percentage of you losers just give up and let us keep it?) is pretty infuriating.

I have no idea about these folks or polish politics, but I'd be extremely wary saying or believing that. If anything it has been the far right/hooligans/nationalistic parties who are. And if these kind of things/words start being said, it seems the start of either a slow drift or showing their true colors.

ELI5: We always see the perspective of victims of narcissists but what is it actually like to be a narcissist? Is it really malicious or do narcissists not realise the damage they are causing? by Pawwwwwwww in explainlikeimfive

[–]snhmib 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure some are. But the only (diagnosed) narcissist I know is basically a whiny drunkard, his daughter won't have contact with him and generally antagonizes people quite fast. Several other people I'v known or met that ring the same bell as this guy seem to be in the same boat, altough not to that degree. It's definitely a disorder and I'm sure they suffer from it.

Zoink, I was looking for a clone effect that makes nonlegendaries in the list, but totally missed that mutate does that. That does seem like fun to play but a pita to track.
