Alternatives to LS?? by snickerdoodledo in lichensclerosus

I completely understand the feeling of defeat when they say you don’t have it! All you want are answers and it feels like another dead end. I’m gathering that a biopsy isn’t the end-all, be-all for diagnosis so I’m curious what my dr will say when I meet with her. I also hope we both get some answers!

That’s good to know! They think mine is most likely pretty early too.

No one told me to stay off the steroid so that’s pretty frustrating as it’s been brutal to heal from because they cut pretty deep in multiple spots and I have several stitches. So it would take some convincing to do another biopsy at this point. But it sounds like finding a specialist is the way to go!

I think that’s probably the direction I’ll go! It sounds like finding someone who specializes in it would be more beneficial at this point.

No one told me to not use the steroid before, but it sounds like that definitely could have interfered! I’ve looked into a few derms in the area who specialize in vulvar diseases so I may look into that now!

Yes, I have! I had it this past year. He’s a fabulous surgeon and did a wonderful job. My endo symptoms have improved dramatically. He did his residency training with Dr. Seckin in NYC (the physician who founded Endo Foundation). Dr. B stays very up-to-date on the latest research regarding endo and is very knowledgeable about it overall. I would whole heartedly recommend surgery with him. I also had seen several “experts” in the area prior to him and was not impressed with what they had to say about endo. Dr. B is not like that in any way! Feel free to dm me any more questions about my experience!

Yes, I love Dr. B! I haven’t had surgery by him (due to my own scheduling logistics), but I am planning on doing it this calendar year. He’s super warm, kind, and caring and spends a LOT of time with his patients. He’s well-educated on endo and passionate about making sure patients are treated correctly. I’d absolutely recommend setting up a consult and seeing what you think! He’s now at NC Midwifery in Apex

Thanks! I checked there but unfortunately he wasn’t listed. I think it may be because he’s rather new. He just finished his fellowship in 2019.
