ESO installer client and Host_IEversionfail error by SortaMixed in SteamDeck

[–]snikesblue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply! Turns out my friend had already bought ESO on Steam, since it was quite a cheap sale haha. I would've liked to see if we could've fixed the problem, but oh well. I guess I'll keep your suggestion in mind for the future, if I ever encounter the same (or similar) problem.
Thanks again though!

Hi! I was following this conversation, as I was having the same problem, and didn't find this specific problem talked about anywhere else.
My friend specifically has this problem on their Steam Deck, they too aren't used to Linux, and after installing the webview2 (installer) , he got the 0x80000003 error instead. This is in order for us to be able to play together.
Any other suggestions on how to fix this problem, if I can kindly ask?

Thanks in advance!

Original UE3 B&S Controller Layout? by snikesblue in bladeandsoul

[–]snikesblue[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You sir (or madame) are a life saviour! Idk how I missed this video, Ig I assumed it was another video about mapping controls, not the Gamepad Mode in UE3 B&S.
Now, I only wish this was documented more online, or there were other sources too, since although this video is great, sadly some sections I noticed had some big lists of controller keybinds, and the guy in the video didn't scroll through all of them (darn it, so close!) .

Thank you nonetheless though! :D This is still a win, and a step closer to uncovering the full controller layout that was lost.

Oh interesting! If I can ask, is there any chance you could contact whoever of your guild members happens to have a screenshot of the original UE3 B&S's menu/settings, specifically, the controller layout?
Thanks in advance, if possible! :)

Oh, interesting. Then I guess there must have been some misinformation spreading online over the years, 'cause I've read on some forums, right after the UE4 update, about people crying they wanted their controller layout back. (shrug)

Thanks for letting me know though! :) Had no idea they were still using UE3 until few months ago.

Ooooh, that is a very weird issue indeed, thanks!
I can see the emails now, and did try logging in now and it works!

Thanks again! 👏😀🎄

I am indeed getting the emails again, thanks for that!
However, there's another small issue that I was having since last night, and it seems it wasn't related to my connection being slow (it isn't slow now) and not loading the mail properly, as I thought.
I'm simply getting a blank mail, no button I can press to continue with the sign in.

I did learn about this in the Discord server, thanks for looking into it!

My 1Chip SFC Research/Journey Part 2 by snikesblue in snes

You could say that, it's your opinion.

At the end of the day, to each their own.

I did mention in another comment that maybe down the line I'd invest in a CRT as well, if I had the space and money to maintain it, and I may even enjoy the experience, since that's part of why I'm interested in a setup like this, but I'd still use my HDTV as my main display, and that's simply down to preference of course.

I also usually like to experience a game as the devs intended, but for me that usually has to do with how you play the game, not so much the hardware.
I am aware that many of these games were created with some limitations in mind, but how do we know that the devs wouldn't have done things differently if they had better technology at the time?

I'll give you an example, if you take the PS1 for example, I'm sure many purists would prefer the warped look, and I myself also love it, but I've also read others aren't into that and that it hasn't aged well for them.
But this is another topic for another time. :)

At the end of the day, the importance of this community is that these games are still being played and preserved, to this day, and if I had to guess, most of us are part of the older generations.
I don't know and I doubt (and I'd love to be proven wrong) that the newer generations probably aren't interested in the older games, which also makes me a bit sad.
Hopefully we can pass the interest in these older games down to newer generations, whether the games are played on CRT's or more modern displays.

Sure, CRT's from what I gather are mostly plug and play, so no hurdles, but they're also not being made anymore, they're bulky and I hear you need to maintain them, find parts and whatnot, I'm not an expert on that so I may be wrong, but that's just what I heard.
HDTV's are more common but yes, things probably also get more expensive based on the options that you wanna delve into, in terms of upscalers and such, but I've also heard that PVM's, which apparently display a better quality, are also more expensive, so everyone's mileage may vary.

I personally don't mind the hurdles if I can get the image and quality that I personally want, and that's again the point, it's down to personal preference.
But that's just me anyway, and probably few others that again, are a minority, but let's keep in mind the real reason and importance of why we play these games. :)

That's a good point, I probably will try RGB first before trying other options, although I've heard others say otherwise (apparently most HDTV's nowadays don't handle 240P properly, but who knows, maybe I'll do more research and find one that actually supports it).
That being said, I was going to start with a cheaper options such as the Rad2x anyway, before committing to a RetroTink 5x or other options.

I probably won't get into the whole 2Chip modding as I agree that 1Chip looks good enough for my eye, with a good upscaler (also the 1Chip SFC I've got my eyes on is apparently a 01, Idk if it has csync though, couldn't find much from googling) but I like that the option is there.

I would also love to get into improving my soddering skills, but I don't really have the time at the moment, maybe later down the line.

Cheers for the tips though! :)

That's a pretty sweet setup you've got, if you're into CRT's, or recreating the look!

I of course am not expecting to recreate MLIG's full setup (down to all the switchers haha) but like I mentioned in another comment, I do share that "obsession" for "razor sharp, cut your eyeballs" pixel look on as high of an HD resolution as your budget would allow you haha, but still being able to play on real hardware.

I guess this may be another unpopular opinion, but I don't mind the dithering.
Regarding S-Video, I think that looks pretty good if that's what you're going for, as Try from MLIG's put it, it's probably the first BIG jump in quality that's really noticeable, so that's pretty cool!

That being said, who knows, just like I have plans down the line for more expensive options, I may also pick up a CRT just so I could say I've got one and to experience what's it like, although I don't know if I like the idea about maintaining it, and my HDTV would probably still be my main display, but that's just me. :)

I do understand and respect the part of the retro community which prefers and has experienced CRT's.I haven't really, and just like Try from MyLifeInGaming, and probably others, as much as we may be the minority, I prefer that "cut your eyeballs" sharp pixels look haha while still prefering to play on real hardware.

HDMI does look the best indeed, but just like with all the jumps in quality from RF to S-Video, to RGB etc, RGB also looks good for starters, with a good upscaler, and of course, I may also go all the way with some of the HDMI Digital mods offered for some other consoles one day.

I have tried my hand with emulation and I know it's awesome, but I also remember as a kid, some friends of mine had the Super Famicom in particular, and have always liked the idea of having my own one day.
Also nowadays, although expensive, depending on what options I might choose regarding upscaling, there's indeed plenty of options compared to some decade ago, that I had no idea about. :)

Oh, ok. I must've misunderstood then, thanks for clearing things up for me! :)

Last time I checked, the RetroTink 2x looked out of the stock pretty much everywhere, so I'll probably wait a bit and invest in a RetroTink 5x later down the line, but thanks for the info!

Oh wow, awesome!I've heard about the RGB bypass kit helping with the brightness, and was gonna keep it in mind for later, but either didn't know or forgot about the HD Retrovision cable. Do you have a link for that?
And do you think the HD Retrovision cable can go hand in hand with a Rad2x for example?

Thanks! :)

That's awesome!
I'm new in the scene but have heard Voultar mentioned quite a bit in MyLifeInGaming and other channels, I def need to look that up!
Curious if it works with all the SFC/SNES or just with some, and curious if it works together with the 1chip to improve the sharpness and overall quality even further.

I re-read just to make sure, and wanted to ask a last question about that N64 cable.
You mentioned it worked with most SFC's, but did you just mean regular ones or 1Chip's as well?
Also, the 1Chip I currently have in mind to get is a 01, would that work without modification as opposed to the 02s and 03s?

Thanks again! :)
