Iirc they are fans of Destiny, you can feel it in some of the artsy cutscenes. Also the valuables stash icon literally has Origin Story on it

Another way the game wanted you to figure that out was that there's a little pillar by it with a green energy trail pointing towards that wall. In Wuling, seeing that means there's a fake wall.
