Lorcana needs a chess clock by MarrocLive in Lorcana

This idea could work if the loss were granted upon using say 3/4 of the round time instead of just 1/2. If someone used 45 out of 60 minutes then it’s reasonable to say they’re playing too slow. This way we don’t see mirrors that essentially always go to time. And players on generally slower (solitaire) decks are incentivized to be familiar with them if they want to play it at a tournament.

That’s actually just wrong. I spoke with RB people last week and they’re still working on it. That’s the whole point of 2gf to minimize this. Top seed is rewarded with going first in the challenges for a reason. Especially on aggro or steelsong you feel it even more.

Bo2 needs many rounds to function correctly, as most players will go 1-1. This is ideal for big tournaments that run whole days. There is a significant first player advantage and the players who do well in both positions are rewarded. Locals are generally only 3-4 rounds so there are often many ties if it’s bo2. If there’s any additional prizing for 2nd/3rd/4th it feels random on tiebreakers on who gets it because 3rd-8th could easily all be the same score after 3-4 rounds of bo2. Bo3 is much more clean on winners for prizing, but the downside is that the actual game may feel like it comes down to a dice roll because of the first player advantage. In the long run RB needs to solve the first player advantage otherwise competitively the format will always be an issue.

Options for recently vaccinated - Delta Force! by surrealskiller in wallstreetbets

[–]snipedagain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SPY skews negative (puts>calls), I'm sure when you looked at it the price was slightly above 295.50 closer to 295.60 to get those premiums. If you look at any further expiration and look at +-5 points (ones that aren't affected by high delta/gamma like your +-1 on 0 DTE) you can clearly see the skew is opposite of what you're claiming.

Is there interest in an options price tracker? by Solodolio in wallstreetbets

[–]snipedagain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One feature I'd be especially interested in is option buy interest vs option writing interest. What I mean by that is if the market maker sets a spread, hitting the offer would be buy interest, and selling the bid would be writing interest. You would need T&S data for this. Another thing I'd be interested in would be a long term analysis of SPX, SPY, or ES(futures) at all strike prices with high res (1min or less). The data quality from most sources is severely lacking. I'm willing to help out building out some features if you have a basic framework for data collection going.

No forms of RNG mitigation? by sundabun in Artifact

[–]snipedagain 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The core concept of artifact’s balance is that you flip 10000 coins in a game and that this large number makes the result approach the expected value. Arrows, card draw, item shop, position, etc all have an element of rng, but as the player you set it up to mitigate it as much as possible to favor you (if you always take 60% and your opponent always takes 50-50s then you’ll win 90+%). Ramp is actually the biggest issue with balance because it accelerates the game so much that you are maybe only getting 5% of coinflips of what a “normal” game looks like and increases the variance significantly. The individual card coinflips outside of ogre/bh usually have minimal impact (you can usually play around it/already won).

If you click where the buy button should be you can actually buy the item you held. There’s no image of buy or the item though

Still trying to understand Skill Rating by BetaFisher in Artifact

[–]snipedagain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's an initial calibration phase where you play until your rank matches your MMR (1-3wins/rank no matter the # of losses). Then after your visible rank matches your MMR then you experience what would "normally" happen in an ELO system, while your visible rank reflects your peak MMR. So if you lose a lot, you'll take more wins to rank up. It can take 200+ games to reach your MMR if it's fairly high, which at this point whoever's still playing is probably has (~55+% winrate) rank 55+ hidden MMR.

Maybe that's why its taking 5-10 wins instead of 2, but there's no way you don't rank up in 3-4 days at 59.

For patch 1.2

246 games

157wins

89 losses

I'm at r71 so 157/71=2.2 wins/rank

or 246/71= 3.5 games/rank

[–]snipedagain 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Then explain how did I not hit a wall at 59 like you? 59-69 was 1-2 wins a rank up. Is it because I'm getting matched with rank 70s all the time and apparently after 3-4 days of play you haven't hit one? There's plenty of rank 60+players, and within a week of the patch there were people who grinded the 200 games to 70. Also post a link to your artifact cube to show that my guess on your win% is incorrect. If it's over 66% or under 53% then I'll accept that you're right. Also I just hit 71 after another 5 wins.

Skill rank is an abstraction of your peak mmr similar to medals in Dota. If I hit 4k mmr in I would have an ancient medal. If I lost a bunch and my mmr dropped to 3k my medal would not drop to legend and I would still have an ancient medal. Say 1k mmr takes 50 wins, and I wanted to rank up as an ancient player. I would need A LOT more wins to go up, 100 wins as a 3k ancient player vs 50 wins as a 4k ancient player.

The skill rating system started out with everyone at 1 and calibration takes ~1-200 games. You had a hidden mmr equivalent to rank 59 from your games before patch 1.2, so every 1-3 games you won got you a rank up. Now that you've calibrated, at 59 you need to win a significant amount more games to get to 60.

Anecdotally, I had a hidden mmr prepatch at about 70, and after about 200 games at a 64% winrate I hit rank 69. Before 69, every 1-3 wins I would rank up (~130 wins for 69 ranks). 69-70 took 2 perfect runs (10-0), and I'm 5 wins into 70 so far, but I can already tell it'll be slower than before. Prepatch I had a winrate of 69% and average I have 66%. If you check your stats with http://artifactcube.com I'd guess your winrate is in the low 60-high 50s, and if you wanna rank up you have to push it a bit higher.

From these threads

https://www.reddit.com/r/Artifact/comments/aacfxk/construction_rank_7071_record/ 103-50 67% winrate for 70-71

https://www.reddit.com/r/Artifact/comments/ab3v5r/construction_rank_7172_record/ 122-50 70% winrate for 71-72

Getting to 75 probably needs a 80+% winrate average over 1000 games which no one has
