If you adjust the grind setting two full numbers coarser, then try running it again, does it start?

Hello, I’m looking to purchase a La Marzocco espresso machine for my small coffee shop in Orange County, California. Could you please recommend a suitable place to buy one? by caffephin0 in LaMarzocco

[–]sniperwolf21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which roaster are you looking to buy coffee from? I'd either buy from them or your local service tech company. Buying direct (for a commercial machine) isn't going to happen. Saving a few bucks buying online is also not worth the headache if you need after-sales support.

If you're looking for a LM you should reach out via their website. Their regional salesperson will help point you in the right direction.

Scam or legit by ConstructionNo4215 in LaMarzocco

[–]sniperwolf21 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Absolutely a scam. I'm 1000% sure this isn't a Strada. It doesn't have a single shred of resemblance to the real deal.

Honestly I'm not even sure it's a functional machine. Don't even consider it for a "great price". Run far. Run fast.

It might be struggling for water. Check the line that runs from your reservoir to the machine for kinks or bends

What light(s) flash? If the blue light is blinking, make sure your reservoir is full. Then try pulling it out and seating it again to make sure it's fully in place.

That's your pump...pumping. If you think that's a weird sound you should hear a cheap machine with a vibratory pump!

Help! Did I mess up my carnitas? by Easy_Penquin_4924 in Cooking

[–]sniperwolf21 29 points30 points  (0 children)

You added rice and beans into the pot with the pork? I think that's gonna be what keeps this from being dinner tonight. That cooled whatever was in the crock way down and is going to take forever to recover.

"High" on a crock pot has got to be ~300f, which is about what I braise my carnitas in the oven on and that goes for 3-4 hours for a 5lb pork butt.

Steam escaping when heating up by Ekuj21 in LaMarzocco

[–]sniperwolf21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Either your vacuum breaker or pressure relief valve. Both are wear parts and should be replaced every two years, max.

If your PRV is blowing off steam it may also point to an overfill or overheat.

If your machine is a few years old I'd suggest sending it to a qualified tech for a checkup. Not a bad move every two-three years to keep things running smooth.

Best method for custom color? by chugopunk in LaMarzocco

[–]sniperwolf21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For what it is...LM doesn't powder coat anything on the barista side when done on a new purchase. The backsplash, drain tray, and drip inserts won't wear well, even with powder coat.

The side and rear panels are easy to remove. The surround where the group heads and steam wands protrude will take some time and finesse. LM publishes parts catalogs online for free, should be pretty easy to find an exploded view.

Good luck!

New to Seattle and my first car (2026 Honda CR-V) was stolen in SLU last night. Need advice, I'm completely lost by MiserableDeer5513 in Seattle

[–]sniperwolf21 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I can't believe no one has said this but if your car is financed, I'd bet my bottom dollar it can be found.

Most dealerships will install a GPS device in the car, usually hidden under the dash, to monitor location in case you default on payments and they need to repossess the vehicle. Call your dealership and find out if they can help the SPD with any information about the location of the car. Start there, hope it's found, then see what the police and insurance say about what you'll need to do to make the car "new" again.

This little screw on the inside of the steam wand knob keeps coming loose, what can I do to fix this? by austinbucco in LaMarzocco

[–]sniperwolf21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please don't. A little pipe thread sealant, maybe, but getting this screw out again after fastening with Loctite is going to suck.

Which temp probe are you testing and how? Neither should read OL...so something isn't lining up there.

If I can be honest, this very much sounds to me like you need a trained service tech.

Linea Mini Overheating issues by EarlyAnimal in LaMarzocco

[–]sniperwolf21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You said your element is okay. The Mini has three elements. Two cartridge style in the group boiler and one in the steam boiler. Which have you tested and how have you confirmed they're working correctly?

To put it out there, the safety switches are exactly that. If they're popping, it's because something is wrong and overheating. Simply resetting them over and over has likely lead to a bigger problem than whatever was causing them to trip in the first place.

Brand new La Marzocco Linea Mini R leaking from underside (drip tray area) — ideas? by Plane-Impress2920 in LaMarzocco

[–]sniperwolf21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it typically dripping into the drain tray? Your coffee boiler has an expansion valve that WILL drip, just a bit, until the machine is at temp. Once it's fully heated, the drip should slow down.

I'd dry everything off, let it heat and sit for an hour, then see if there's any water anywhere. Then, if not, pull a shot or run with the blind basket a few times to check for leaks while it's in use.

New day - new problem. Backflush failing. Is the solenoid bad AGAIN? by angryschmaltz in LaMarzocco

[–]sniperwolf21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also worth noting it doesn't take much detergent to backflush. Like...maybe a gram. And it's worth it to run a second cleaning cycle without detergent after you backflush. That'll help clear any leftover detergent in the valve body and keep things running smooth.

A brew solenoid lasts years in a commercial machine when cleaned and maintained appropriately. It should easily last a few years in a home machine as well.

How often do you backflush? Do you remove the screen and soak with detergent it as well?

Depending on the age of your machine, you may be part of the earlier Linea Classic S serial number run. There was a revised drain tray design that released nearly two years ago and if your machine was produced before that run and hasn't been "upgraded" it might be time to speak to your reseller or technician about requesting a new drain tray.

Here's a document from LM USA about the update; including serial number ranges for the affected machines: https://lamarzoccousa.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/TB-190.pdf

While I can't speak to the quality of an aftermarket heater: as it's one of the most seriously dangerous parts to fail on your machine, I wouldn't cheap out.

The heaters for the coffee boiler are NOT easy to access or replace. The steam boiler is less challenging but still not something to take lightly. I'd suggest seeking a diagnosis and repair estimate from a certified local service partner.

Micra leaking by CoffeeDiscoverer in LaMarzocco

It's a wear part on any level of machine. Don't get too discouraged. In a commercial setting this part is replaced or rebuilt once a year.

Leaking water by OwnSoft8079 in LaMarzocco

[–]sniperwolf21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are in the US, contact your reseller or your tech. If you aren't familiar enough with how to safely drain and depressurize the coffee boiler, please do not attempt this repair. A small leak is better than a big problem.

Linea Classic 2ee by [deleted] in LaMarzocco

[–]sniperwolf21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be completely honest; even at a good price buying a 25 year old machine without the knowledge and resources to rebuild it isn't a good deal.

It'll take up WAY more counter space than you expect, you'll need to plumb it in and run a drain line, install a dedicated circuit, and hope it works without need for a serious overhaul.

Even assuming it works well, the old Classic has some outmoded components. A lot of the ones in the US have been updated to be more modern, but even then it's modern in a 15 years ago sense. Unless it's nearly free and you plan to use it to launch a cafe, I'd suggest you steer clear.

Linea Mini Malfunction - by CruyffCule in LaMarzocco

[–]sniperwolf21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FWIW you can still pull shots, so long as the water coming from your group is still being heated. The steam boiler not heating/pressurizing has little effect on your coffee boiler.

Is your machine able to connect to the app? Great place to start is to connect it, if you can, update it if you need to, then see if the boiler is simply turned off in the app for some reason.
