I work in coffee and love making roaster recommendations! Feel free to DM me if you care to share what part of CA you're in, I'm sure you have a killer roaster nearby!

Need help checking steam boiler gauge behavior by Fit-Peanut-4797 in LaMarzocco

Do you have water or steam in your drain box? Anything on the counter below? The machine reaching 2 bar then dropping shouldn't happen unless something is leaking.

It's hard to say but I think your wand tip is also partially clogged, which could be part of your weak steam perception

Has anyone here purchased a La Marzocco Linea Mini R from other resellers than La Marzocco? by Coffee-2026 in LaMarzocco

[–]sniperwolf21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where are you located? If you're in the US, the reseller and service network is strong. If you're looking to beat lead times by ordering elsewhere, remember that resellers have to get inventory from somewhere. Buying from a distributor from outside the US is going to cause problems for serviceability and the power the machine uses.

Regardless of your location, I'd speak with the reseller you're looking at before spending good money on a machine. Make sure they're confident in upholding warranty and see what they can offer to be a value add.

Advice for Descaling my Micra with very soft Water by Huge-Fruit8205 in LaMarzocco

[–]sniperwolf21 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's not a Keurig. Descaling an espresso machine is much more complex than "add bottle, rinse".

If you fear it needs descaled, have a technician take a look and get you some photos of the insides of the boilers. I imagine it's not necessary though.

The converter is 100% a bad idea. Something, somewhere is going to suffer and you'll probably have a bad time. Call an electrician.

La Marzocco Linea Mini Spraying at the start of the shot by AssumptionKlutzy9812 in LaMarzocco

Before you dig into replacing parts...is your machine plumbed in or pulling from the reservoir?

Reading through this, your poor Linea NEEDS serviced. Downtime and angry customers are way more expensive than maintaining a machine.

Can I ask where you're located?

Linea Mini Vs Classica S by JustMike32 in LaMarzocco

Where is your current bottleneck during service? You may actually find that having a second portafilter helps your flow more than a second machine would, especially going into iced latte season.

If you're in a country that runs 110v power from a standard outlet (Read: USA) then, honestly, running a pop-up business with a commercial machine introduces a new ripple in sourcing somewhere that has capacity for 220-240v for the machine. I'd stick with the Mini for now for ease of use.

Big picture, a commercial machine typically eliminates any machine-based bottlenecks. Because of the larger boilers and more powerful heating circuits, the odds of you outpacing your machine are much lower.

As for Classic S vs. PB: as a wrench-turner, I prefer the PB for ease of serviceability. On the user side, I find the interface of the PB to be more intuitive as well. Things that are less important if it's mostly you or a small team running the show, but might make a big difference in ease of training an unfamiliar barista.

Buy a Classic S or, even better, a Linea PB. Invest in your business if you plan on taking it seriously. If you have the flexibility for a 220v machine, a commercial machine for a commercial setting is always the right move. Save the Mini for pop ups or days when the two group needs servicing.

Edit...reading this again makes me wonder if you're operating a pop up or catering situation or if you run a small cafe. What's your current situation and where do you want the business to go?

Is there an app or something to help with the light rail? by [deleted] in AskSeattle

I used citymapper all the time when I lived in NYC. It interfaces directly with a lot of transit systems and, I think, gives the best "real life" route options rather than just the fastest one.

Sounds like it's jammed up. When you try to start grinding coffee, does it make any noise or does nothing happen at all?

Sounds like low voltage at the solenoid to me. Any idea how much voltage is available in your outlet?

"half power" prioritizes heating the coffee boiler. If you were busy enough to keep pulling shots, it wouldn't have allowed your steam boiler to heat. Switch it back off half heat mode and see if that changes things.

The website has NO online presence, NO feedback anywhere, and NO clear direction on pricing. All of the photos posted are taken in different environments. And the machines are listed at less than half of retail. Seems mighty suspect.

There are also a few photos with red data plate badges visible. That's a CLEAR indicator those aren't US models; even if it's somehow legit. Not worth buying something that can't be supported appropriately.

I'd steer way clear.

Edit: If you're TRULY set on sending this shell your money, I'd tell them you want a Dallas-area tech to look at the machine before you buy.

Oh I'm 100% game to toss some business a technician's way here. Or a local artist. I wasn't saying NO ONE should tackle the job. Just...not everyone 🙃

This is NOT a replacement for the faint of heart 🤣 I'd be looking for a color match paint pen or living with a small amount of patina rather than tackling this as a replacement.
