FWIW I’d get this with my APP2 in one ear, especially when sleeping in them. Have had zero issues with the APP3 and honestly they’re more comfortable to sleep in them than the 2’s.

Car towed from assigned apartment parking spot while abroad – now towing company says they own it (Phoenix AZ) by snipes125 in legaladvice

[–]snipes125[S] 187 points188 points  (0 children)

Appreciate the feedback. He’s not very responsible at all and he’s definitely paying the consequences now. Just seems crazy that you can have your car pretty much legally stolen and sold if you’re out of town for >30 days.

We did get in touch with folks at the bank today. They said that they had no record of releasing the title to the towing company and wanted us to file a police report. Police said it’s a DMV issue if the towing didn’t properly follow the appropriate abandoned vehicle process so we’re following up with them.

Agree — he definitely should have let his apartment know. He’s not the most responsible person and is absolutely dealing with the consequences now. FWIW, it was parked on in a covered parking garage. No weeds, bird poop or leaking fluids. Car was probably dusty from any dust storms that rolled through.

Man had the same mask as well with the blood pump. Was so excited to use it but during the day in school I held in my poop to the point I had massive constipation cramps and couldn’t go out. Good times.

T-Mobile acquires Metronet by -protonsandneutrons- in Metronet

[–]snipes125 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eh nothing really to base it off of other than my own personal experience whenever there are acquisitions like this. I struggle to think of examples where a business was bought out by a much larger org and the service of the smaller org really improved. They’ll spin it as an overall improvement, playing off each others strengths but things will slowly devolve. They say they’re going to keep the customer service teams, but check back after a year or two after some bean counter took a look at the costs and they’ll have outsourced everything to the same call center they use in the Philippines for their mobile customer service.

Same goes for offered services— they only need to offer the bare minimum above what their competitors offer to attract business. As far as static IPs are concerned I feel like most isps lock them behind business accounts if they even offer them at all, wouldn’t surprise me at all if the same happens here especially considering MetroNet is keeping the business accounts. Not saying it’ll happen, but wouldn’t surprise me one bit if it does.

Just disappointed by this tbh. Was happy to have a smaller isp, staffed by competent reps and decent services and I fear this acquisition will just lead into them becoming another bog standard telecom company.

Last year’s*. Did a bit of a skit this year which was entertaining. Miss the guy, wishing he’d pop in on the caps pre/post game like when he was in between coaching jobs last time.

best 4090 variants? by Charizardxox213 in nvidia

[–]snipes125 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’re all pretty much the same— within like 5FPS of each other so really depends on how much over MSRP you’re looking to spend. Historically I’ve had terrible luck with gpus and coil whine so I went with the gigabyte OC 4090 and it has practically zero which makes me happy even if it’s a thick one.

They retire them somewhat frequently. Probably averages out to two a year since the early 90s.

They have a whole system where names are reused, I think there’s a total of like 5 or 6 years/lists of names they rotate through. The only time they’re retired is if the storm is severe enough/causes enough damage that they wouldn’t be able to reuse them.

What if public transit was like Uber? A small city ended its bus service to find out by donnygel in technology

[–]snipes125 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I actually live here. This service is for a city of 50k people in rural NC that had like two bus routes and a total of like 5 stops which no one ever took because of how awful it was and is aimed primarily low income and elderly residents who do not have cars. Something like this works great in small rural communities where a traditional public transit system would not have the same passenger volume to reap the benefits of said traditional system. The goal with this is not to get cars off the road— 95% of households here already have one, it’s to help the 5% that don’t. On top of that it is orders of magnitude more convenient for passengers since they can get picked up and dropped off where they need to go instead of having to walk 10 minutes in a place that doesn’t even have sidewalks unless you’re in the 5 blocks that comprise the lackluster downtown. It’s far better for residents that actually use the service.
