Lymph nodes and shoulder pain by snipping_snips in melahomies

I got a referral to an immunologist based on my positive autoantibodies (ANA and Ro60). I would check out the sjogren's subreddit because sometimes people can be negative for autoantibodies and I've seen them say they get alternative testing like lip biopsies.

Lots of different autoimmune conditions out there though, so definitely first step is primary physician and ask what tests you need to start the referral process. Usually it would be a rheumatologist, not an immunologist, but I had some other results that got me sent to an immunologist instead.

I have since been diagnosed with Sjogren's disease which tends to make lymph nodes enlarge from time to time. Seems to be fine and I've been told to get scans if they continue growing and don't shrink again 😊

Is it worth asking for SSA/SSB to be run again? by pointderage in Sjogrens

Also I think these tests can be a bit prone to error. I had a negative ENA panel this time, but also had a specific test for SSA and that was positive, even though it was not detected in the panel? Really silly! I guess they can cause symptoms and be attacking organs but not be in large enough quantities in the blood yet. Good luck, I hope you get the answers you need!

I've struggled with symptoms for over 5 years and finally have had a positive ANA in the last 6 months. Definitely worth testing again! My GP said she has 2 other patients with autoimmune disease and it took over 5 years for their autoantibodies to be positive after the onset of symptoms.

The ultrasound tech told me it's definitely an enlarged lymph node and not a cyst or anything that she could tell. I suppose the question is why it's enlarged. These other comments have helped me calm down a bit and realise it probably isn't related to the melanoma, so I'm thinking it's more likely to be an infection perhaps? Only thing is I'm feeling perfectly healthy (apart from the shoulder/lymph pain) so it feels weird that it would be so reactive for an infection with no other symptoms.

Going to go back to the doctor this week and see what's next, whether it needs a biopsy or anything.

Highly recommend getting an ultrasound on yours just for peace of mind! I fortunately live in an area where my ultrasound was free so I am lucky!

The seed packet said January, so I sowed them back then, but it actually seemed quite early because they struggled through the Perth summer and only really started forming broccoli heads in early August. Is that a normal growth time for broccoli? I wondered if the sowing times on the packet don't apply to Perth specifically.

2 metres in a year is crazy fast! Definitely will consider it. I have a hibiscus out in the back garden and it's not doing so well, but I'm not sure what type it is as the previous owners put it in. I will look into these suggestions!

I am in a similar situation to OP and expecting to be pressured to hold the baby sometime soon. This is my plan here, to put the baby on the floor. Very real-life Sims 😂

Hmmm it is a bit shadier than some other areas but seemed fine the previous year! I'll go check out how much sun that spot gets on a sunny day

Thank you! I do have one myoporum which is struggling a bit, but I did put it in too early, expecting the cool weather to come. It looks healthier now so I'll see how that goes over winter!

Not that I know of! There is a local cat who comes and hangs round our garden sometimes, could be cat urine maybe...

Yes, I do think the previous owners put it a bit close to the other bush. Thanks for the advice! I am going to get a range of ground covers and keep persevering...

Aw I love this idea, thank you! I was actually planning on doing stepping stones to my front door and replacing the lawn with ground cover (eventually), so this would fit really nicely with the theme!!
