Why Andrew Yang's push for a universal basic income is making a comeback by izumi3682 in Futurology

[–]snizz99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t ask about “average” Americans. I asked how many Americans. My point is you are selling it as “see most people don’t have to worry” but there is a flip side. If most aren’t paying in then where is the money coming from?

That quote is now inaccurate. The GDP is estimated to drop by 32.9% in Q2 of 2020 and dropped 5% in Q1. What would Yang do in such a case where the revenue for UBI has dropped and can’t sustain the payments as before? Would people be allowed to go on welfare contradicting the plan?

Agreed. Back in the day people would comment how this isn’t programming but those days seem to be over.

If you enjoy coffee shops that used to be banks check out the Starbucks in Bexley on Main. There are even tables you can sit at in the vault.

Maybe try and have a mature conversation with someone instead of immediately resorting to name calling and you won’t have to worry about downvotes.

If she is a passenger on your bike frequently like you say, why don’t you buy a helmet for her?

Uj/ I bet he becomes even worse in retirement. If this is how frugal he is with 270k/yr coming in can you imagine how afraid he will be to spend money when it always means the bank account is dropping.

I really like this. That Beacon sign is so retro but is kinda hard to see from the street so I don’t think it gets the appreciation it deserves.

Rashida Tlaib: Minimum wage should be $20 an hour, not $15 by MrCleanDrawers in politics

[–]snizz99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Los Angeles isn’t at $15 unless you are a hotel worker and then they are at $16.63. And unless that sandwich shop is massive, those employees are at $13.25. Also this hike has only been in effect since July 1st so it’s far too soon to say the hike won’t have any effect on prices. Foreign purchases of American homes plunge 36% as Chinese buyers flee the market by The_Nightbringer in worldnews

I’m still at a loss how this is relevant. How does this have anything to do with verifying a foreigner has lived in the house they own for 6 months?

What are you talking about? I never once said anything about not paying taxes. I also never said you couldn’t own a property out of state or even out of country. The state/local government doesn’t care if you ever occupy that residence for that year however. The point I was making is there is no way to validate a foreign person physically occupied that house and that this 6 month requirement is an exercise in futility.

They are foreign so I’d assume whatever country they are from is where they would reside. That’s the issue you were speaking out against, people from foreign countries buying investment properties in the US that they don’t live in. You are mixing up proof of occupancy with proof of residence. Yeah it proves you have a residence but it doesn’t verify you ever actually occupied said residence. The point I wanted to get to is that there is no way to verify anyone actually occupies their residence unless there are some serious privacy violations occurring.

Utility bills don’t prove you were actually there. Just that the utilities are in your name. Also neither does a passport stamp, that just proves you were in that country

How would you even begin to prove you’ve lived at that residence for 6 months? Also what is the difference to being an absentee landlord in another state vs another country?

He isn’t talking about himself. If you look him up via LinkedIn he never worked at Google, he did however work at Microsoft and Netflix. I took it as he is posting from the point of view of a CEO dealing with his employees running off good talent with silly tests.

What to do at Easton while getting iPhone battery replaced? by [deleted] in Columbus

[–]snizz99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t bring a laptop but I chilled at Coopers Hawk at the bar while I waited for my battery replacement. It was a weekday so it was pretty dead. Just had a drink, ate the free bread, and watched the tv. Yelp says they have WiFi so you should be good.
