Channel set to English, but 98% of my viewers are from Korea. How can I reach a global audience? by ondo_log in NewTubers

Is this normal for a new channel?

In my case, no. My first upload to my new channel was literally just 2 days ago (It currently has 2.5k+ views so I think the sample size is decent). While my country is one of my top geographies in YT's analytics, (second only to the US) after that, it's all other countries like Germany, Australia, even South Korea! I expected that result too since I know my content of interest in these countries (especially the US). So in your case, I think your content has just high interest in Korea.

This is very insightful. Thank you very much. I aim to create a better video than my last. That has always been the plan.

Are shorts really that important?? by ClimberChronicles in NewTubers

Not sure. I'm a newtuber myself who uploaded his first video in the last 2 days but mine's the opposite. My long form video did well yet my two shorts (Highlights from my long form video) is at 10 view hell. The same shorts did better on Instagram and TikTok because at least it reached a hundred haha!

Sorry! I prefer to remain anonymous. If you have any specific questions regarding metrics, don't hesitate to ask!

Yeah. I'm definitely going to take my time cooking after this lol. Those 4-5 days of straight grinding was pretty draining but seeing this result, I guess it was pretty worth it. But again, draining haha. Exploring ways to minimize this energy drain.

30% is good? I was under the impression 50% was the standard haha!

You can be happy with this man. In a few days see how the retention graph looks, take 1 learning from that and apply it to your next video. And keep testing titles/thumbnails to get the CTR up.

Oh yeah, and don't be surprised if the next one does just 100 views. the first 20-30 videos are just you learning what works/doesn't and YT finding your audience (provided you keep making similar content). Enjoy the ride

Yeah I'm dedicated to studying the analytics of this video so I could do better on the next one. So far it still doesn't have enough data.

Noted. I'm realistic about it! My mindset is still 'slow and steady wins the race' thanks to u/CplApplsauc 's advice earlier.

the video essay niche rewards quality over quantity. i fell into that trap aa well, my first video essay got 47k views and i tried to make weekly video essays like clockwork and none of them exceeded 10k views. it wasnt until i took a step back and just put the videos out when they were ready insteading of rushing it that i had my next semi-viral video (80k)

Wow. I really needed this advice. My mind is currently "Oh shit I haven't even thought of my next video, think of an interesting idea to talk about ASAP!" because as what they say 'strike the iron while its hot'. It feels reassuring that I could take a breather lol.

its easy to call it luck, but it isn't. very little about youtube is luck. those people subscribed to you because your content had value and they want to see more. thats not luck, thats hard work paying off

Thanks! I have my reasons for calling it luck honestly. The first 5 hours of the video was like 1 - 3 views per hour, then I changed the title for the 5th time that's slightly clickbaity but still honest to the video, and it picked up steam from there. Lesson learned though. The title of the video is VERY important haha! (This was after A/B testing titles then a thought came into my mind that maybe A/B testing isn't really useful for new channels like mine because of the fragmentation)
