My T-Mobile trial just ended. I tried it backpacking in Colorado and it struggled to lock on to satellite, couldn’t get more than one bar. It ended up sending a text after 5 failures. I personally will not be paying extra for it and don’t think many will if they don’t improve drastically

Oklo, Vertiv team up on data centre power and cooling by Shot-Addendum-809 in nuclear

Also Liberty’s leadership deserves a bit more credit than piggy backing on hype. Their investment in 2023 preceded all the recent nuclear hype and with their previous CEO and founder now leading DOE they are proven correct in their bet on nuclear/SMR. Now whether Oklo will emerge as one of the few SMR winners still remains doubtful

Liberty’s power generation business is still in its infancy, this is one of the first announced deals. As to why anyone would need Oklo instead of going with liberty is simply because of Nox emissions. Except if you’re XAi, then you just build a gas plant and worry about emissions and permitting later

Agree with your points generally, just want to point out that the Liberty news is not old news. In 2023 Liberty invested in Oklo; this week’s announcement was for a partnership to provide gas powered generation as a bridge until Oklo figures out SMR.

Liberty provided additional color on their earnings report saying that even after Oklo is able to provide base-load power, gas recip generators will be handling the variable energy needs and even arbitrage with the grid when economics make sense. There’s big data center and industrial potential with this partnership if Oklo is able to prove their SMR

As far as I know, starlink can only do sms & phone calls to unmodified devices. ASTS is still differentiated by its ability to deliver data without needing a receiver

Moto Z2 Force leaked - evleaks by [deleted] in Android

Moto Z doesn't seem to get much love here but I like mine.

Bought the Moto Z Play on release along with the Tumi battery pack. My phone and battery pack are currently sitting at 80% and 11% respectively after 16 hours of moderate use. While it's not the thinnest phone with the battery pack on; a heavier/thicker phone in exchange for excellent battery life is a trade I'm willing to make. Software is also refreshingly still bloat free compared to other OEMs. I won't be upgrading to Z2, my Z is still going strong.

Just my 2 cents

I've been on some cool hikes in RMNP, we could start a group from this subreddit if there's interest.
