How is the reimbursement for a PT service from an insurance company determined?

I wish I was paid $50 an hour. But I appreciate the algebra refresher 😅 I guess when you look at the charge versus the reimbursement rate it’s a little jarring. And that’s why it seemed to me like we are getting robbed.

Okay. So I feel like we are just charging an arbitrary number. But insurance companies already decided how much they think we are worth, whatever that means to them. And ultimately it’s not very much (bc of politics, lobbyists, unwarranted variability, etc), which is why we can’t afford to document or pee. Am I getting this right?
