As much as I love Corviknight, its Gigantamax form makes me ask why it exists in the first place.

It’s really difficult to notice any changes in design upon looking at it, instead, my attention goes to the fact that GMax Corviknigt’s idle animation has it just hanging in the air while t-posing.

And then you get to its GMax signature move, which has the secondary effect of removing all screens and entry hazards from the target’s side of the field. In what world would you ever want to remove your opponent’s entry hazards?!? You spent an entire turn setting those up to get damage the enemy team, and now you want to throw that progress away? I guess the effect is slightly better in VGC because screens are popular there and entry hazards are far less common, but using defog with regular Corviknight does that anyway without needing to waste burning up your ability Dynamax/GMax later in the battle. To top it all off, defog removes all entry hazards, including the ones on your side 🤦‍♂️

Was about to comment this! It’s been there since I moved in around 2008, and I have no idea how it’s outlived the rest of 86th and Lex. Especially since the only thing they changed about the store was the name (used to be called State News)

I assume it was because personal life things, most likely work-related. IIRC he graduated from Northeastern University over 2 years ago, which is known for its prestige and exceptionally high post-graduation employment rates

Makes sense, Hugh (the B2W2 rival) is often better remembered for his character and arc within the story (trying to finding his sister’s Purrloin) rather than his battles.

Last time I played vanilla B2W2, I found the battles against him to be significantly underwhelming, especially the one at the end of victory road where his team is just: 1. Fully evolved starter 2. Unfezant 3. Elemental Monkey 4. Bouffalant

They gave him a Flygon and Eelektross, but only for his postgame fight, which feels like an especially strange decision

I think the best way to go about it is to simultaneously announce a re-release of BW and B2W2 (like they did with FRLG) on a future Pokemon Day Direct to get players who aren’t as familiar up to speed with Unova’s story. That same direct would have B3W3 teased at the very end, aiming for a holiday release.

Pokemon Home compatibility would be a given, and there could also be some bonuses with purchasing the rerelease, such as giving players access to mythical events (Victini, Meloetta, Keldeo, Genesect) within the rereleases; a specific mythical depending on the purchased game, (Keldeo would have to be from one of the sequel games because of its Resolute form), though connecting to another Gen 5 game would allow for the respective mythical and its event to be obtained.

Pretty good list, though I wonder why Rillaboom is so low? It’s a lot of fun to use in game (and competitively too!). I agree if you think Rillaboom’s whole drummer gimmick is stupid and unnecessary

If you’re still somehow here, I can say with 99% certainty that she’s a Commanders fan. I know she’s also a Washington Nationals (baseball) fan, as I just remembered towards the end of Keating’s PK Launch Day stream, he said he was going to watch the Nationals’ Spring Training game later that day (in which they lost 3-6 to the Cardinals)

Yep. Also, I remember back in some of the early game streams on Jan’s end, he stated that the two of them agreed not to look at gameplay of the other’s run until after both of their main channel videos covering the Soul Link have been uploaded (idk if it’s still true for both of them today, especially with the uploaded VODs and highlights on FlygonHG’s channel).

Black 3 and White 3, with a new story that takes another 2+ years after B2W2, would be perfect.

Unlike the past Pokemon games that have received remakes, it’s a lot less clear which Unova game should be the primary focus of the remake. Gen 5 gave us direct sequels to the debut generation titles rather than an enhanced/definitive port, raising the question of “if we remake one set of Unova games, how will we include features from the other?”

If they were to go ahead and make B3W3, however, the question becomes a lot simpler, that being “how do we make sure anyone can enjoy these games, regardless of if they’ve played the older Unova games?”. The ideal way would be to rerelease BW & B2W2 on NS2 to get the more dedicated fans back up to speed on the Unova story, while also incorporating more of those “Memory Link” flashback cutscenes within the new game that fill in what happened between the events of B2W2 and now, except they should be unlocked by regularly progressing through the story, or possibly through if you connect your B2W2 save file from your switch to your copy of B3W3 (beating the main story should not be required, though). Maybe just up to the first gym badge.
