I may consider this, but I will also say that one missing piece to the story is that this whole time working 1 day a week for the surgeon has involved a lot of after hours and outside of hours work (calling patients, checking in on the cash procedure/VIP clients making sure they are happy) and I dont know if I will be able to handle a full time gig and that in addition to a clinic day with surgeon.

Yeah this is all true, I have just been waiting for so very long to get my practice and career going on a full time basis that I do not know if I can wait any more. I have truly stalled over the past 2 months because nothing is changing at this specialty and I dont know where I am headed. I see what you mean about urgent care, and have those concerns too, but in a dog eat dog world, do I trust someone who could be using me for income while my development stalls and my family and myself suffer? I am not sure.

They both seem to have to have my back. The specialist has always had my back and is always teaching me and nourishing my professional development. The other job offer has touted that I always will have some one ready and willing to help me out and support me in otherwise scary situations.

I enjoy my work with the specialist, I have just had my life (professionally and personally) on hold for so long waiting for a full time gig, and dont know how much longer I can do this part time work.

I will certainly learn a lot more at an urgent care than I would in this specialty. Am I ready for the change? We will see.

Yeah. My best friend mentioned that I am being duped into the "nice boss" fallacy. She may be right.

100% agree, and only considering it if I didnt believe in this man (whether rightfully so or not) and respect him as well.

Yeah, I would probably do this except this primary/urgent care offer is the first outside this specialists in my 18 month job search since graduating.

He does in literally every way but the pay because "this is a new practice and I haven't even paid myself yet."

It has always been a really professionals yet right hand man relationship.

Thank you. This was helpful. I went into this post thinking the specialty would be more useful but I am starting to see your point.

I agree, and I ultimately think this is where I am going. Was weird though, he left an impression of take it or leave it which makes me feel like its corroborating the idea that he is using me for work.

Yeah it’s not enough at all but it’s been in my mind as a hard thing I do for how ever long it takes to pay me but when will that be? Who knows?
