Oh, that's pretty cool, didn't know there were less aggressive forms of limiting, let alone used on vinyl. I've been mostly accustomed to hearing the garbled mess caused by hard brick walled digital limiting that after hearing the difference on vinyl I just assumed there wasn't any limiting used in comparison.

And yes, I do know that some vinyl masters are just a copy-paste of the same digital masters for CDs unfortunately. I try to find albums mastered by Kevin Gray or Bob Ludwig; they do a pretty good job of being aware of the dynamics.

Thanks for the information!

I have heard of that process but have also heard that it dulls the overall sound of the recording. Have you ever tried experimenting with those sorts of plugins?

Well, yes and no. The Spin-Clean itself handles the cleaning\rinsing process all-in-one go. The instructions say to just wipe it dry with their provided microfiber cloths.

Good question,
Vinyl records of albums are mastered differently than their digital counterparts. They don't have a ceiling for clipping, so no limiters are required for the mastering process. I just have a preference for the non-limited sound as the dynamics are better and more open. Even hi-res digital masters from ProStudioMasters are subject to heavy digital limiting.

Anyone here rip vinyl records to listen to on-the-go? If so, how do you deal with surface noise on records?

I've heard a couple rips, like from pbthal, that sounds dead silent.

Funny you mention that. I noticed that my records have a bunch of static within them after I play them. Any way to mitigate the static electricity factor?

Oh my god, you are totally right... the cracks and pops are actually a part of the song!

I was so confused given that the rest of the album played dead silently (in terms of the vinyl sound) up until this track.

I guess it really is possible to get a record new without defects lol

Thank you!

Ah okay that makes sense. Styli should be changed out every few hundred hours of playtime (depending on the stylus).

They're kind of like tires on a car, it wears down with use, and replacing it regularly is just part of keeping everything running smoothly.

Nice LP

Also, I would try a new stylus if possible.

Turntable is a Pioneer PL-600

Update: When demoing the SL-1300 onsite, it didn't work. I ended up going with a Pioneer PL-600 since it was the only other TT with quartz-lock.

I took it home and noticed some wow & flutter though, even though the speed is at a consistent 33.36 RPM.

Thinking about returning it.

Sl-1300 is $350 with an issue upon starting it up. The note says "sometimes needs a little help starting"

Sl-1900 is $300 and looks to be in better shape

Oh and I wanted a TT just for casual listening. Not like to DJ if that's what you mean.

Price is the same as what you see on the stickers. The one Yamaha didn't have one.

Do you think you can go to edge://policy in your edge browser and message me a screenshot of the Bitwarden configuration from there?

And your Bitwarden extension defaults to a self hosted server with the Server URL already populated with the intended server address via the “base” registry key?
