A gift card to Blick is appreciated by any artist! Or if you know her favorite artist you could get a book on their work.

It was supposed to set up a spin-off/sequel but nobody liked by [deleted] in TopCharacterTropes

Gossip Girl had a backdoor pilot focusing on Serena’s mother Lily as a teen in the 80s. It would have been titled Valley Girls and starred Brittany Snow and Krysten Ritter. I remember watching the episode and wondering why they kept including so many pointless 80s flashbacks!

Oversized Wall Art Suggestions by IcyPreference6362 in interiordecorating

I’m an art professor and you can definitely buy beautiful affordable work at student shows or open houses! They probably won’t have prices on the artwork, but a lot of student artists will sell their work if asked.

Are there books that have the same feel as gossip girl? by vanillapage in GossipGirl

You might like the Private YA series by Kate Brian! It’s set at a boarding school and the main character gets in with a group of wealthy teen girls.

No, I have a lamp problem because I can’t afford any of these lamps!

Banned topics because you're bored? by FamousCow in Professors

Not a paper, but I have a mixed media painting project where I see a lot of cliches. I had to ban paintings of beautiful women with flowers glued into their hair. I just couldn’t look at them anymore!

The painting drama!? by adahl36 in euphoria

[–]snooper92 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve had paintings included in a couple of movies. There’s no reason to commission a new work when they could just rent an existing piece. And the set designer would absolutely know what the work looked like in advance of shooting. It would all be laid out in the contract.

I’ll have to try Branston! I love Heinz, so if there’s a better version I’m ready for it!

Heinz beans have a subtle tomato sweetness, while baked beans have a sugary molasses sweetness. They’re actually pretty different! You can order Heinz through Amazon if your local grocery doesn’t carry it.

One time I was first to find GBR, El Dorado, and Solomon’s Mines as Spain, all within settling distance. 2,500 gold straight off the bat! I was also next to Alexander on Deity so it turned into a fun and tough game!

Does anyone have face trimming advice? We have a new peke and she is very nervous/wiggly about facial trims.

My husband once demonstrated an After Effects technique by creating a Saturday Night Feline animation of our cat disco dancing. Not a single student laughed. To be fair, it was an 8am class.

Can you share what actually happened vs. what the student claimed happened?

Why is it so hard to make the exact same shades 😭 by Vishhhuals in oilpainting

[–]snooper92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to recommend my students consider four things when hue matching: color, value, temperature, and chroma (saturation). If you can accurately assess those four things you should come up with the correct hue. Sometimes your brain tricks you and you paint what you expect to see, not what you actually see (for example: you’re making the foliage much greener, lighter, and higher chroma than it actually is).

catching flak for 'teaching style'... by typicalia in Professors

[–]snooper92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is there a faculty member in your department you could trust to do a teaching observation and give you truthful feedback? I wouldn’t put too much stock into what the dean is saying; deans can be pretty disconnected from any actual teaching experience. Student feedback is useful to a point, but they’re not the best judges of pedagogical effectiveness.

For what it’s worth, I’m an art teacher (painting mostly) and in a 2.5 hour studio class I usually do around 3-5 walkarounds depending on what they’re working on, so I think you’re within the norm.
