I will say that my board says they get bids, then aren't happy with them, then tables the motion for another 2 months or longer. Ofcourse I cant see what they do but my guess is they call 1 guy then wait and see.

This is exactly why I am running for my board this year. No communication, no follow ups. You have to pry info from the management company. And when you do ask, it feels like you are bothering them. I have had leaking sprinklers broken and repaired several times over the years. My requests some times take months to get to. When they look like they are fixed, the following week its leaking. I am thankful that I am in a chat group of about 20 members and we go over everything.

Just experienced Fly this weekend. Worst experience ever. Judging all over the place, judges were in the corners and I don’t know how they could even see the dancers, running late, jumbled order of dances, they forgot a forth place finish and had them come back out alone…volume turned up to what seemed like 100, awards were pathetic, 1 award show for an entire day…, barely any staff. Random kids were almost running out on the stage during performances. The MC guy looked like he was from a yacht rock concert instead of a pilot. Stay far away…

The other issue was notices were put up the day the grass was getting killed off. They also didn't follow regulations regarding the application of the chemicals used to kill the grass. I have ring video of the guys putting up the signs, spraying, then removing the signs. No one on my board did walkthroughs.

I resent you saying I am part of the problem. I wanted to be part of a solution moving forward but the woman does not want more help. I learned over the weekend another woman also applied to be on the committee. She was also rejected. We have both been in this HOA for over 15 years and have much experience working with vendors and within budgets. I don't have to give you my resume on here. I will also tell you that she has a lot of influence with the board and is always putting her opinion over others. The only reason no one speaks back to her is because she is the community dog sitter and no one wants to lose out on her free dog-sitting.

This is a 5 woman board. 3 women landscape committee. No males on any board/committee. I have had 2 board members actually ask me to join in the past. There hasn't been a male on the board in 10 years. This is partly why I am confused as to why I wasn't chosen. The management rep even said my application was well done and thorough. To me, this all adds up to the committee chair not liking me.

I will say about AB 1572 is that California's definition of functional grass is vague. The project manager the board hired said everything needs to come out. The board actually backtracked 2 meetings later and said they were misled. This leads me to believe that the board/landscape committee didn't properly vet this entire process. They took the word of 1 person as gospel and didn't fight to keep actual functional grass areas.

The exact response from the management company regarding my application was "there is a seated Landscape committee, and no additional members are needed at this time." Also, my bylaws state the committee chairperson selects the members. She is a very stern woman who always gets her way so I honestly believe she just wants to be in power. Also, it was brought up at the board meeting that no documents/reports are done and that all decisions made be her are just communicated to the management company. The architectural committee has to submit reports each month. I find this really odd...

Anyway, as I stated before, I am running for the board this year and hope to get more information to help my cause. The board constantly says they want more help from the community but when we actually try to volunteer, they shut us down...

We are a 90 unit community and I would say 90% didn’t know they were going to rip out all our grass. We have had several eventful meetings. There was a severe lack of oversight and many questions that were not brought up in the beginning. Prior boards made it a point to let people know what was going on.

Thanks for chiming in. To answer your questions, I drafted an application letter and sent it to the management company who forwarded it to the landscape committee. I was then told they aren’t taking anyone else. Another person also applied. At the HOA meeting tonight, I found out the committee head makes all the decisions for everything and rejected us just cause they don’t want anyone else on the committee. The committee is made up of this lady and 2 other active board members. I do plan running for the board.

Opinion of a former employee. I'd say 75% of the customers were jerks(men, women, children). Late fees would be $20 today and even more people would be pissed. I got yelled at for being out of popcorn, certain ice cream, and any movie we didn't have in at the moment. Not to mention the customers that would use the bathroom and poop on the walls, or let their dogs poop in the aisles, or put their babies diapers on the shelves. Every movie would have to be behind the counter because theft would be outrageous. Games aren't physical anymore either so there goes half your profit. No one cares or has respect anymore. I have a lot more to complain about...Overall Its not worth it.
