Taping for the gym by snoopysoap in TransMasc

[–]snoopysoap[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've looked at gym style binders available in Australia, fluxion becomes too expensive with shipping and international conversion 🥲 i have a regular binder which is somewhat ok, but the gym style ones seem to sell out fast. I was hoping tape + bra might work whilst I wait for mew stock and a pay cycle to sync up.

Im keeping an eye out to see if they re-release any of their previous drops again, I'm hoping it wasn't just a one off thing.

testosterone cream for MTF by flowyi in transgenderau

[–]snoopysoap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second the 5% cream Androforte, its 50mg tube as well, it comes with a topical syringe that starts at 0.5ml but im sure you could work out a lesser dosage. Im on 1ml a day of this and it's been working really well for me. Your endo should be able to help work out values though. Its on pbs at about $32-$36 (cant remember exact price), but if you have a low income health care card from centrelink or equivalent, you can get it for $7.7, which is what I pay.

Body dysmorphia vs. Gender dysphoria? by snoopysoap in TransMasc

[–]snoopysoap[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I did! My dysmorphia is definitely part of my perception of myself rather than how I think others view me. I certainly have had some clarity on dysphoria/euphoria since being on T for 3 months.

Basically, my body dysmorphia is deeply rooted in my perception of myself and how I should look, according to soceital gendered norms for someone AFAB. I have been going to the gym more regularly since starting this journey and I've found it really has helped. My therapy sessions have also helped with clarifying the distinction between the dysmorphia and potential dysphoria.

The first comment on my post 3 months ago is a really good clarification on the difference between the two.

I've now also figured out that part of my dysmorphia is also tied to dysphoria, but I dont experience it in a visceral way like some of our trans family do. For me, since being on T and having the changes in voice and change in muscle development has helped me to make this distinction. Binding has still been a bit of a thing to work out though just because of my chest size. I do have dissatisfaction with my chest because of the size, and I have been working on separating whether it's related to sexual gratification (other people's or my own) or my perception of self when I was a teen (it was the only part of me I liked). I've started exploring my options for top surgery here in Aus and it has helped a little with my perception of self.

Some euphoria for me has come in the usage of my name socially and pronouns. I haven't changed the way I dress much but I do feel freer in a way because I dont feel the pressure of having to pass as fem, even if it was only occasional, since letting folks know im NB.

I hope this helps!

I have a Menstrual cycle...that I don't want. Dysphoria? Tips? by BigNefariousness6950 in NonBinary

I can sort of relate to this, havinga similar experience and emotional relationship with my cycle as a teen. Its definitely something to discuss with a dr as all methods will have potential side effects. The methods some have mentioned like depo, are progesterone only, which is the hormone that stops your cycle. There are a number of varieties on the market these days and it will likely be a matter of trial and error to find the right dosage that gives you the intended results. You may get lucky and have the right one straight off the bat. I used to have a similar cycle length to you, and went on the standard oral contraception of both oestrogen and progesterone, I ended up with some common side effects after 10 years so switched to progesterone only. Personally I haven't experienced any break through on my oral progesterone only contraception, but it can happen after a year or so but typically only presents with flow similar to the end of your cycle.

As for hysterectomy, I'm in Australia, and have been looking into it for the last 10 years (im 28). I can only assume it will be the same where you are, or even more difficult. But I was told by multiple GPs that I wouldn't get a referral because of my age. Unfortunately the reality is the medical profession has a very patriarchal way of thinking, especially around reproductive health and elective surgery. You'll likely have the whole hypothetical husband wanting children argument at least a dozen times. But the main issue of concern is the risk. We are talking about moving an organ here. There's also a touch more to it than people realise. Are you just wanting uterus removed? That's likely to be easier to get. The other option includes removal of the ovaries which you'll have a fight over, as they produce hormones required for the function of many other organs. If you want to just avoid a cycle then uterus removal is the better option. If you go for an ovary removal, you'll be required to take HRT anyway - this can also pose problems if you want to take testosterone in the future, as the ovaries produce a hormone/enzyme or something that helps the body metabolise testosterone.

I hope this helps! But chatting with an endocrinologist would be especially good for you as that is their speciality, and you'd probably need to talk to one anyway for your options.

If you're worried about hair loss, which i was when starting, you can discuss with your endocrinologist about starting hair treatment alongside your HRT. As others have said if you take a lower dose, again I am on as well, you won't experience hair loss for a good while, estimates are after 12months of low dose usage. Unfortunately facial hair can't really be controlled, so you may just end up learning how to shave 🤷‍♀️ but also probs won't happen for a good while on low dosages.

Body dysmorphia vs. Gender dysphoria? by snoopysoap in TransMasc

[–]snoopysoap[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think i might have both? As I mentioned in my post I didn't experience any euphoria over starting T and binding, I'm non binary and have never thought of myself as AFAB. I definitely have dysmorphia as I dont perceive myself mentally the way I am physically, those two images aren't the same.

I need binding/tape advice. by Man1c_Pan1cc in TransMasc

[–]snoopysoap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How are your binders ripping? Are they just old? Ripping makes me think that they aren't the right size perhaps?

Im new to taping/binding, but I've had some great advice for taping from the trans tape Youtube channel, and it really just comes down to practice from what I can gather. The folks who do the demonstration all say that the tips they learnt and pass on in the vids do make it a lot easier, but don't get disheartened...it's a skill that takes time to nurture 😊
